Comfy Headphones for around $200
I could use some guidance. I'm looking for comfortable headphones that produce awesome sound for around $200. They do not need to be portable at all, I'm just going to use them on my computer. No gaming here, all music. I only have a cheap entry level amp/dac (early magni/modi), so the...- ropeadope

Old Modi is pooping out, ideas to fix?
I've had a Modi (v1) for 3 1/2 years and it has a gotten a lot of use! Understandably it's not working great these days. My computer has had a lot of trouble recognizing it, started about 6 months ago and has gotten progressively worse where my computer has to be on for like an hour before it...- ropeadope

Do Sony MDRV6's still get the job done?
Thinking about getting my brother some Sony MDRV6's to replace his old ones that finally broke after many many years of use. Seems like the MDRV6s have been around forever, are they still a good bang for the buck or are there newer headphones around the same price I should look into? Thanks!- ropeadope

Something is broken in my audio setup, not sure what :(
Hiya. I've got an audio problem. A couple of weeks ago I came back to my computer after watching 7 straight hours of football ('MURICA!) and I had no sound. Everything looked to be in order, i double checked all the connections and software stuff, but no sound. So I restarted, and sound came...- ropeadope

amp in the $150 to $250 range
Looking for a headphone amp, old one broke. The only options I have seen that people recommend are the Magni and the O2. I already have a DAC. Budget -$150>$240ish Source Computer>Schiit Modi>AMP HERE>NAD Viso HP50 headphones. I only listen to music on my computer so I don't need...- ropeadope

Are all closed headphones ear warmers?
I've been wondering if closed headphones have a tendency to warm up your ears much quicker than open headphones. It would make sense. Closed headphones block outside sound, and therefore block air from getting in as well. I'm sure the material of the pads plays a part as well. What has been...- ropeadope

Current headphones are close, but no cigar. What next?
I've been teetering on whether or not I want to keep these NAD Viso HP50s for a while, but it's really starting to lean toward not. The main reason being they are ear warmers, and hot ears are really uncomfortable to me, even though the fit is nice. They sound pretty awesome, obviously, or else...- ropeadope

Problem with old headphone amp
Hiya, Been using my headsave classic v2 amp for nearly 10 years with lots and lots of usage time and it's finally starting to give out. Heeelp, something has gone wrong with my Headphones
EDIT: Found the problem is my old amp (headsave classic V2), it's over 10 years old with many many many hours on it so not too surprising. Been loving my new audio setup, which includes NAD Viso HP50 headphones. Have been using them for 20 days or so and had no problems. BUT, today i...- ropeadope

I don't know what to get to upgrade my computer audio
Hiya. I've got some fancy headphones now, but my source is still my motherboard's on-board sound. Surely I can do better! I have no idea what to get, though, like really no idea what my options even are. My computer is the only place I listen to music. I already have a headphone amp that gets...- ropeadope

What headphones for a Denon D2000 fan?
Hey! Dang I've almost been registered here 10 years. So I've been getting by on budget phones ($20 AKG K44s) for some time now, and they are great budget/backup phones, but I should really get something nice for my main pair. I had Denon D2000s for 4 years before they broke. I liked those a...- ropeadope

Some creative soundcards incompatible with SSDs? And what should I get now?
Has anyone else heard of some creative sound cards are incompatible when using a solid state drive and perhaps Windows 7 64 bit? Pretty specific I know but I fall into that category. Here's a long boring thread about it: http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=567821 I liked my X-fi...- ropeadope

TV doesn't have a headphone jack :(
Heya! I looked at all the forums and couldn't decide where to post this. This forum seems somewhat appropriate, but feel free to move it. I got a fancy new TV only to found out there is no port for headphones. I'm a night owl so I can't have the TV on when everyone else in the house is...- ropeadope

AKG K44 ($19 at GuitarCenter) Very nice budget phones
Picked some of these up at Guitar Center for $20 or so, on sale for President's day weekend. Don't expect a very full or detailed review. I've listened to them for less than 20 minutes. This after using my Denon D2000s for 4 years. I didn't know if $20 headphones could satisfy me. But they do...- ropeadope

Noooo my D2000s broke :(
Can't hear anything from the right side. Didn't drop them or anything, I guess it died of natural causes. Anything I can do to maybe get the right side working again without having any advanced technical knowledge? Hope so :( These are/were my favorite phones ever. What phones should I try...- ropeadope

Got the itch, help!
Think It may be time for a new headphone amp, or new headphones...or both. Currently using Denon D2000s with a Headsave Classic V2 amp (old one...anyone remember? ). Coming through a creative X-Fi. These D200s are the best headphones I've ever had. Went from HD-555 to AKG-701s to D200s...- ropeadope

Please help a beginner choose an audio interface (different thread!)
Well I couldn't think of a different title than the one of the other thread that other guy just made. Anyways...I listen to music all the time on my computer (actually only place I listen to music, all mp3s) but I also play a lot of games. I've had my Audigy 2 ZS forever and it's served me...- ropeadope

A wireless mic to use with my headphones?
Hey head-fi folks. I'm a big Gamer and I love my headphones (d2000s). I use voice communication in games a lot these days. I have been using this Zalman mic, which is made to attach directly to your headphone cord. I thought that was a neat idea. The mic works good but the wire is a big pain...- ropeadope

I have bad luck with headphones (breaking)
Tried this in the DIY forum for a week but no one replied. Maybe this forum is better suited towards headphone repair. I have bad luck with headphones breaking. Denon D2000s at Buy.com for $205 shipped (?)
I supposedly just got some Denon AH-D2000s from Buy.com for $205 shipped. I'm pretty weary about it though, but hopefully I'll end up getting them. Buy.com isn't a favorite of people when it comes to customer service. I was searching on Google for d2000s and then went to Google's low price...- ropeadope

What headphones next for an HD555 guy?
I wanted to avoid making one of these "recommend some headphones for me" threads but you guys are so good at it . Also, I only buy headphones once every 2-3 years, so I figured I might as well get some input specifically for me. I've already got the most I can out of searching this forum...- ropeadope

My K701s Broke?
I'm really bummed out right now. My AKG K701s that I've had for less than 6 months aren't getting any sound to the right side (the side that doesn't have the wire coming out of it). This usually happens when the connection in the back of my computer gets a little loose, but that wasn't the cause...- ropeadope

AKG K701s a little...eh
I've had my AKG K701s for over 10 days now, and while I do like them, I also find them to be underwhelming. I used HD-555s for 2 or 3 years before getting these, and I really liked those. The K701s are a step up from the HD-555s, but a small step. I can't tell a whole lot of difference, and I...- ropeadope
