Fullsized Headphones coming from JH-16 Pro In-Ears
Excuse my ignorance, but can a full-sized can be really that much cheaper then my In-Ears while having a comparable sound quality? I know shrinking hardware actually adds cost but at this level?- Galatian

Fullsized Headphones coming from JH-16 Pro In-Ears
Hey guys, It's this time of the year again when I would love to trade my In-Ears for some nice warm full-sized headphones. I never had any so I really don't know what to look for. First I really like the sound signature of my JH-16 Pros especially the low end. The full-sized cans are...- Galatian

<Renewed at 2012/03/12>The new HiFiMAN 802 & New UI named "Tai-Chi"
Ok, I'm probably going to be called a troll, but still: They haven't fixed the firmware of the "original" HM-801. Why would anybody want to spend money on any new product?- Galatian

Final JH3A revision Impressions
Quote: This! Ever since I switched from my HM-801 to my Cowon J3 I have been very careful on what recommendations I value here on head-fi...Many people seem to think high price = high sound quality. That being said I'm very happy with my JH16 Pro and have been very intrigued...- Galatian

COWON vs HIFIMAN hm-602
Don't be fooled. I just sold my HM-801 over my new Cowon J3. I'm using JH 16 Pro with them. At first you think the Hifiman "must" sound better because of the price tag and because of what people on here tell you. They are more laid back that's what gets you first, but when you compare them...- Galatian

JH Audio JH16 Pro First Impressions
Quote: This... I never understood how people can say they are bass heavy. Most audiophiles here on this forum seem to mistake neutrality for lack of bass. To that extend the JH16 Pro are not overblown but in fact very neutral in reproducing what the source provides. Bass in = Bass...- Galatian

Cowon J3 Impressions Thread
Quote: That really depends on what headphones you are using...right now the only "enhancements" I'm using on the J3 with my JH 16 Pro is the Mach3Bass on 6, because of the bass drop off on low impedance phones. I enjoy the overall musical quality of the J3 so much...it is so much...- Galatian

What's the best sounding DAP on the market ????
Quote: Yes, although now that I have such a small player I converted all my FLACs to 280 kbps VBR LAME MP3s, which is more then transparent to me.- Galatian

Cowon J3 Impressions Thread
So since the charger for my HM-801 burned through a couple of weeks ago and before ordering and waiting a couple of weeks before I receive a replacement one, I decided to try out the J3. The first thing in noticed with it was the lack of bass on my JH 16 Pro. I increased the Mach3Bass to...- Galatian

What's the best sounding DAP on the market ????
Quote: Well I own a HM-801 with the GAME-Card amplifier and since recently the power supply burned through ( ) I decided to try a Cowon J3. What could I possible loose? Seriously, maybe my ears are not that good, but I don't hear much of a difference. Yes the J3 has less bass on...- Galatian

HiFiMAN HM-801 Player Firmware Debug Thread
Quote: Ok so the issue still remains...I've double checked on my Mac again. The song informations written into the cue-sheet are 100% correct, as VLC will play them just fine. The issue is definitely with the HM-801...oh well since the power charger just went up in smoke last week I made...- Galatian

HiFiMAN HM-801 Player Firmware Debug Thread
Quote: Do you use cue-sheets with your single .flac files? That's what I've been doing using XLD on Mac OSX to convert my files, but although it was stated already on release date, that the HM-801 supports cue-sheets it does not so properly. I've written Fang about this earlier this year...- Galatian

Add ALO Solo to Ipod classic / Corda move 2 or buy HM801?
Hey, as I did the same upgrade as you mentioned above (iPod classic/Corda Move 2) just over a year ago, I might be able to give you some insight. First I believe that IEMs do not need the amplification provided by an extra amp and the extra circuits probably add on "extra weight" on the...- Galatian

HiFiMAN HM-801 Player Firmware Debug Thread
I seem to have come across yet another bug: The cue sheet playback seems to be broken. The Hifiman does recognize the cue sheet, but whenever I jump to different tracks within the Album, it will not jump to the right beginnings of a song. I've checked the cue sheets on my computer. They seem to...- Galatian

Gapless Playback with XLD
Ok I guess my celebration was a little premature: Obviously the firmware on the Hifiman is broken, because it does not jump to the right time tracks in the cue sheets. Now this one is odd and I tried a few things out. First I thought something is wrong with XLD and the way it puts the time stamp...- Galatian

Gapless Playback with XLD
Quote: 1.) Yes XLD does make a wonderful job in that and I'm sure it will be supported for a while. Your other point about searching songs I don't quite follow. Gapless Playback with XLD
Hmmm...let me think...gapless playback perhaps? ;-) Seriously though, I wouldn't go through all the trouble of reripping my entire CD collection (and in the process realizing how some CDs are scratched beyond any bit exact copy :-( ), if gapless wasn't so important to me. Also archiving...- Galatian

Gapless Playback with XLD
I circumvented that problem by naming all my flac and cue files first by artist and then by the name of the album. That way they are in an alphabetical order so everything is easy to use.- Galatian

Gapless Playback with XLD
Hey Guys, I know that the not existing gapless playback of the HM-801 and HM-602/1 is a huge letdown for a lot of persons including myself. Now those players are capable of playing cue sheet files. In essence this means that you rip a music CD as one large track and the cue sheet will tell...- Galatian

EQ on HM-801
Does anyone feel like the sounds becoming slightly better the longer you run your Hifiman? Whenever I let it run for an hour or so and I can actually feel the heat of the unit dissipate on the back of the unit it seems like the bass gets deeper and crispier. Maybe it's just placebo but who knows...- Galatian
