    Subwoofer with headphones?

I've never felt my beyers were lacking in the low end. Try a pair of the new edition of dt990's sometime.

In need of a new setup.

If open headphones are an option, I'd recommend trying the 2005 / new version DT990 too. I think the soundstage on them should be a bit wider than the 770's, not to mention crisper highs. The pair well with a Meier Corda Arietta if/when you decide to buy an amp.

Best headphones unamped/amped for Electronic Dance Music (EDM)?

I listen to some of the same music. I'd recommend a DT990 (newer / 2005 edition). If looking to amp, this pairs extremely well with a HeadFive, should you see one come up in the for sale forum. Or the Corda Arietta, which I think is a production version of the headfive, though a bit more...

What Full Size Headphones and Equipment Takes You "There"?

I haven't heard many of the top tier headphones, but for me the 2005 edition dt990 and headfive is an amazing combination. I have had it running for over a year and have yet to feel the need to upgrade.

    Looking for ideal gaming/trance cans

dt990 2005 edition. Huge soundstage with good imaging. a little bass heavy, a little bright. but you may have to pony up for an amp to get the best sound out of them.

    New Headphones

I'd consider the dt990's over the 770's unless you need isolation (which I dount, since you've listed the HD 595). I have both the 595 and the 990, and I've found that the 990 gets a LOT more play time on my system......even though the 595 is no slouch. The 990 (and probably the 770 as...

    Headphones for electronic listening music..

I second the dt990 vote. Track down a pair of the 2005 model and amp up.

    Ubernoob gets adventurous

The 2005 version of the dt990's would be great for the first part of your list, but they would not be very forgiving for the poorly recorded indian music noted. You might want to consider an HD595? They are a bit more forgiving. Plus, if you can't get around to building an amp right away, they...

    headphones for Xbox 360/PS3

If isolation isn't an issue, the HD 555's would actually be perfect since they won't get as hot over extended periods of time. Stereo headphones should be more than sufficient to use with either console. I'm not sure how good the outputs are on either though, you may want to consider an...

    Complete headphone newbie- completely lost

Please stay away frpm sorround sound headphones. You are much better of getting a decent pair of conventional 2-driver phones for the money. Also, if you are considering headphones as an alternative to a surround sound system, avoid grado. they have very little sound stage. You may want to...

list of good headphones fo hiphop(any price point)

2005 dt990's could fit the bill as well. Depending on your tastes in music that is. If you aren't a fan of big bass, the HD595'd work well too.

    Even crummy headphones break in

If you believe in burn-in, it shouldn't be some mystical thing that only happens to higher-end cans. The drivers in cheap phones would need to move around some and settle in too, wouldn't they?

New to the headpohne thing and need help.

For your type of music, I don't think you need to go crazy here. I'd recommend an HD 595 (~$200), a meier corda arietta amp ($290), and spending the remaining $510 on some music. Note, the 595 will leak a bit of sound, and don't isolate too well, but SQ wise, you are probably better off with...

    Sennheiser EH250

I'm not sure if this translates to the whole EH line or not, but I owned a pair of eH2200's about 5 years ago, and they weren't very good. Of course, I didn't realize how bad they were until I got a pair of HD 595's, but yeah....I wouldn't recommend them.

    What's the best all-rounder under $500?

I would put the 2005 dt990 on your list to fantasize about/audition. I have heard that the mids on the newer 990's are less recessed than on their predecessors. Having never heard the older versions, I can't compare, but I can say that I don't really feel that the mids are lacking. I have both...
