most musical headphones?

Although the K1000s are the best dynamic phones on the planet as far as I am concerned, I would say that the RS-1s are a bit more 'musical'.

For the style of music I enjoy most, no other headphone moves me, and makes me feel an emotional connection to the music like a pair of Grado RS-1s with bowl pads can; provided they are being driven by a nice tube amplifier.

If bringing a lot of emotion into the music is one of the criteria, then MS2i really gets my vote.

My HD600 adds lots of beauty to the music, but MS2i certainly aims for the heart!

If it produces music, it's musical

+42 that.

How do you define musical honestly? I personally like to use 'musical' in opposition with 'analytical' for all sane purposes, which would then grant my vote to ksc75, but thats just a definition for purpose of comparing, not real world meaning.

For sheer musicality (euphonic), I'd pick my 30 year old Stax SR-5 out of a tube amp. A bit colored in the mids, but soooo immersive! I'd put my former AD2000 a bit behind the Stax, but with somewhat similar traits and absolutely wonderful bass.

For more accuracy but still musical, I'd pick my K601 and HD600

For a fun ride, the K1000, K501 and DT880 in that order
