Sony historians: E472 in gunmetal metallic?
Haha, you must be the buyer on Shpock in the UK; I recently decided to sell mine and after some Google mining, was super surprised to find another set had recently sold. Congratulations; you got a really nice set...and with retail packaging! Previously, the only other reference to the...- chengdude

Sony historians: E472 in gunmetal metallic?
Curious if any Sony guru and/or superfan knows which version of the E472 I have. Perhaps a home market-only edition? All the photos that come up with a Google search show the E472 in a black plastic with grey tip at the bottom port. As in the title, mine are finished in a gunmetal metallic...- chengdude

Review: Meizu EP-40 - a very solid entry level IEM for under $50
I see, thanks for the clarification. The MX Quad's audio hardware should be the same as the current MX, which uses the Wolfson 8958 "audio hub". The only testing I'm aware of was in the review by GSMarena here: http://www.gsmarena.com/meizu_mx-review-696p5.php using the (rough 'n...- chengdude

Review: Meizu EP-40 - a very solid entry level IEM for under $50
Yes, Meizu has a network of, in essence, franchised stores throughout China with multiple locations in the big cities. There's now a store in Hong Kong as well. You're also right about the EP-40: it's Meizu's first attempt at a more premium IEM. I don't know if Meizu manufactures their...- chengdude

Review: Meizu EP-40 - a very solid entry level IEM for under $50
No, the EP-40 is not bundled with the MX. The MX package is (attractive, but) bare-bones: phone, USB cable, micro SIM template and paperwork. Whatever the verdict on these, one point in the article is indisputable: they're constanly sold out on Meizu's website.- chengdude

[Impression] FiiO E10
Sorry if this beating the proverbial dead horse, but the socket on my E10 (rev. 1.5 with on-bass-off) is solid at the ring on the faceplate, but inside, the spring/clip thing allows whatever 3.5mm I try plugging in to easily wiggle in all directions. So basically when the headphones are...- chengdude

First news of the Teclast T59 HiFi Player
This is a really interesting thread...8 pages of speculation. It's true that in the last week or two, there's been several "leaks" (read: company PR) to sites like imp3 and ZOL, which typically means a product will be officially announced soon. The more frequent the "leaks", the sooner the...- chengdude

Colorfly CK4, finally some competition for the HifiMan 60X ?
The UI is plain jane Rockchip, for sure. Quote: Not at all, except when a company disguises off-the-shelf components to add some sort of "high end" cache to their product. For example, I have trouble believing that Colorfly and Rockchip "codesigned" (as you say) the...- chengdude

Colorfly CK4, finally some competition for the HifiMan 60X ?
Quote: Looks exactly like a Rockchip to me...a low-res, out-of-the-box UI from the RK2806 or possibly RK2728. Makes other RK-based players look like iPods or Cowons.- chengdude

The FiiO X3 Thread UPDATE: Project Back On! Read the First Post for Information.
Ugh, thank goodness it's not going to be another SigmaTel or Rockchip player. The 3770 has its place, for sure, and I'm still waiting for a Chinese DAP company to come out with the "killer app" (C30, et al. was pretty close) with this chip...but for now it's the domain of either $20 players or...- chengdude

E11, a new start of FiiO's portable amp ( added some real photo )
Yes, Head-fi is currently being blocked in China, and not just in Guangdong where I assume James is posting from. Not sure if they're just momentarily fiddling with the switches or if it's a longer term prospect. All this Fiio-mania is great news, but I'd like to know if any of these...- chengdude

New Portable Player "DP_I" from Little Dot
Quote: Neither has the E9 on Fiio's China site. In Little Dot's case, probably because a DAP priced around 2500 RMB --and that's an estimate by subtracting a generous $100 from that eBay listing-- would be considered by very, very few. A Teclast T51 (s:flo2) is around 700 RMB...- chengdude

DAP with most headphone signal power output and best quality built in output amp
Well, just for a start, from manufacturer's specifications the two highest rated players I've seen are the Rio Karma (55mW/ch) and the Cowon D2/D2+ (37mW/ch).- chengdude

Meizu M6SL
The quirks of the M6 are all very well documented and discussed; if you haven't already, head over to the MeizuMe forums ( http://www.meizume.com/forums.php ) for all things Meizu. Did you find a new old stock M6SL? The M6 has been out of production for some time now, although Meizu...- chengdude

lisse Q10 hot in my hands from Korea via eBay...
Quote: I don't see why not; the main issue 64-bit users face with Chinese players (and those using Chinese guts) is firmware updating. For no-hassle updates, it's best to get access to a WinXP machine.- chengdude

What is your favorite big screen PMP? ( no iPods)
If video playback is the priority, then it's really hard to beat Chinese players for value. There's an ongoing arms race (or horsepower wars, if you like) to push the limits of HD video on portable players...and do it on a budget. If you want to give it a go, you could pick up something...- chengdude

Hisoundaudio Rocoo Review
The Cube C30 uses a SigmaTel 3770 SoC and a Maxim MAX9722 amp. There's BBE as well, but not the full suite of effects as you'd find on a Cowon player. You can pick one up for about $35 (4GB) or $50 (8GB) in China. The Rocoo-A uses a Rockchip RKnano chip and an unknown "Class A" amp. The...- chengdude

Dissatisfaction with clix2 and s9 comparing to clix 1 ?!

Dissatisfaction with clix2 and s9 comparing to clix 1 ?!

lisse Q10 hot in my hands from Korea via eBay...
It may be a Korean design, but that UI says it's a Chinese player at heart. Guaranteed there's a Rockchip processor running the show in there. By the way, if people want to compare this with the T11TE, the RAmos uses a Wolfson 8988, which is a slightly newer chip and, on paper at least, a...- chengdude

My review of the Hisoundaudio ROCOO-A
The Max9722 amp in the Cube C30 is described here (also with a downloadable datasheet in painful detail): 9722 The Cube and the Rocoo are the same basic player. Until someone does a side-by-side teardown, I'm going to believe they are the same hardware-wise as well. BBE is software-based...- chengdude
