what to do with ATH-910 Pros?

Well I made a mistake. Let me just get that out of the way. Trouble is it as a mistake costing me £90. I'm a fan of Audio Technica and I do like some of their closed cans and I thought I'd give the ATH-910 PRO a try and there in lies the mistake. These simply are the most woeful, flat, awful...

ATH-A700 buzzing sound, but only on one amp

My first ever pair of closed cans have just arrived and eager to hear them I fired up the LD MkIV SE and gave the tubes a few minutes to warm up and as soon as I plugged in the new ATH-A700 I noticed a faint but audible buzz in both ears. Bit odd, so I switched on the LD MkIII and plugged them...

How much has your musical taste changed?

Twenty years ago I lived and breathed Iron Maiden. They were the only band in the world as far as I was concerned. Them and Mega Death, and Helloween and Anthrax (I was there, a long with several thousand others, when they recorded some of the live tracks for Attack of the Killer 'B's). Then...

    Like early Stephanie Kirkham

I bought the first Stephanie Kirkham album (That Girl) and I think it's amazing. So on the back of this I bought the follow-up (Sunlight on my Soul) and it is just not doing it for me - it's very different. So, can anyone recommended female vocals albums in the same vain as That Girl? Thanks!

Never thought I'd say this but my MS1's...

... are really shrill. I've been listening exclusively to my K701's since they arrived a couple of weeks ago and I put on the MS1's this evening and I took them straight off again. It was painful. I've given the MS1's an hour or so tonight but I've gone back to the 701's but I don't think...

Would CX500 be noticeably better than my CX300 Mk2?

I'm not really into portable audio, but i do have a need for it (about 40 minutes a day) so I use my iPod Shuffle and Senn CX300 Mk2. I got these cheap and while they do an OK job I don't think they are up to much. So, are the CX500 worth spending over twice as much on? - or what are the...

The (very) unofficial Mince Pie "apparition" thread

Well it's not even December yet and the UK food shops are already over flowing with boxes of delicious Mince Pies. For those of you not in the UK, Mince Pies are a small savoury festive sweet pastry tart (with a pastry lid), traditionally consumed during the Christmas and New Year period...

    Shiny new AKG K701’s

Well I’ve had my AKG for a day or two now and I like them (don’t get me wrong), but they do sound so different to my MS1’s and it’s quite an eye opener to someone who, until a few months ago thought headphones were just for your MP3 player (humble apologies about that). I was very impressed...

    Pro-Ject USB Box outputs static

I have a Pro-Ject USB Box and every now and then it throws a bit of a fit and just outputs static. It can do it while in Windows (XP SP2) but mostly when playing games (it can happen every other minute). The only way to stop it is to escape out of the game back to the main menu and sometimes...

Do you have CD's you just don't listen to?

I like CD's and as a result I have to decide what to listen to and while picking out a selection of music to try with my new K701's I notice a number of disks I just don't listen to – ever. I may have listened to them once or twice and decided I just don't like them. So there they sit. I...

New MS1's: one of the poles is a bit slack... quick fix?

I've just noticed that the right hand metal pole/ rod on my new MS1's is notably slacker (in up and down movement) than the left or the poles on my SR80's. It's not a problem at the minute but if it gets any slacker it may be. Is there a quick fix that does not involve screws and drilling?

iGrados arrived today - sound good, but uncomfortable

The only time I really listen to portable audio is if I have to walk into work or walking to the pub and my iPod Shuffle and Senn ear buds work just fine (and are small enough to hidden in a pocket while at the bar). But been a bit of a Grado fan I thought I'd try the iGrados and they arrived...

Just ordered some 701's - have I done the right thing?

I've always like the the look of the AKG 701's, both in terms of appearance and the write-ups they have got and it seems to fit the kind of music I like (nearly exclusively female vocal, instrumental, light rock, alternative - Tanya Donelly, Michelle Branch, Nerina Pallot, Leona Ness to name but...

MS1's arrived today - got hit by Royal Mail

The MS1's I ordered eight days ago came came today and the delivery time was a lot better than I expected. But Royal Mail are a nightmare - A card was left to say I owed import duty so I went to sorting office to collect them; I was half expecting them to say that the parcel was out with the...

Going to Florida - where to buy Grados?

I'm flying out to Florida from the UK at Christmas and I want to get myself some better Grados and they are significantly cheaper in the States (I'm torn between the 225 and 325). I'm staying in the Kissimmee/ Celebration area and while there is a mail order shop in Celebration I've been unable...
