Portable headphones or IEM for girlfriend
I'd like to buy her a pair as a gift, but I haven't been on Head-Fi in a while so I'm not familiar with some of the newer headphones that's been out. I didn't find much success on searching option either, so I need your help. She's a typical mainstream listener, a lot of k-pop music on her...- TobaccoRoad

AKG K240 question regarding the driver foam pad
I have a pair of studio version which I found out its foam discs that cover the drivers (not the earpads) on both sides weren't attached to the drivers at all. Basically the only thing that secured them in place were the earpads themselves. When I took out the earpad the foam just came right...- TobaccoRoad

Ultimate Ears back to 2 year warranty?
I thought after Logitech bought UE they shortened the warranty period to 1 year. I just checked the Logitech website and apparently it's back to 2 years? http://www.logitech.com/en-us/ue/ue-earphones/devices/8657#section=specsAndGuides- TobaccoRoad

How come most headphones aren't made with shorter cables with separate extensions?
A lot of us head-fiers are desktop oriented, which means 10 ft cables are really unnecessary. Not to mention there are good number of people who use studio monitors for portable use (M50, V6, Shure SRH's, etc.). The only headphone I've owned which had this design was Denon D1001, which I really...- TobaccoRoad

Question for anime fans regarding english dubs
..why do they sound so unnatural? It's as if they purposely alter their voice (or accent if you will) in a way so that it sounds NOTHING like how people talk in real life. Original Japanese voice actors sound very fluent and realistic, so I'm assuming this isn't some sort of anime tradition of...- TobaccoRoad

Is it safe to use open headphones next to a fan?
I don't have an air conditioner at home, so I usually have this big fan next to me when I'm on the computer. I was wondering if this would harm the open grills in any way. Probably not a big deal, but I figure precaution wouldn't hurt. The fan is about 5 feet away and is on full speed.- TobaccoRoad

Confused over the "clock" term for volume knob settings
I'm talking about the term we use to describe our amp's volume knob adjustments. Turning up to 10 o'clock, 12 o'clock, 2 o'clock, you get the idea. Well I've recently seen people say they turn it up to 9:15, 10:45 as if their amps have a second hand like an actual clock or something. I thought...- TobaccoRoad

Do Sennheiser HD500, 570 and 590 have collectible values?
I found a place that still has these at great price. I find their old designs pretty intriguing. Thinking about buying them just for collectible purpose..but are they worth it? Also I'm not really worried about how they sound, but do these compare to today's entry level headphones?- TobaccoRoad

Which of these headphones are easier/harder to drive based on their impedance and sensitivity?
I tried searching, but the more I read, more confusing I get. Is there a certain formula using impedance and sensitivity to figure out how loud the headphones are? For example: Denon D1001 = 32 ohm, 130dB/mW Denon D2000 = 25 ohm, 106dB/mW Sennheiser HD595 = 50 ohm, 112dB/V My...- TobaccoRoad

Replaygain doesn't balance out volumes evenly
Nothing groundbreaking here, but I'm hoping someone could fix this issue for me. I tried searching the forum but couldn't find any useful information. How do you clean pleather pads?
I've been using D2000 in this scorching weather recently, so a lot of sweat got into the pads. I decided to clean off the sweat by putting water on paper towels and kind of just wiped it off. Well today I've noticed the pads make a squeaky noise when I shake my head a little. It just doesn't...- TobaccoRoad

Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child has 2182 likes and 19 dislikes, which means there are less than 1% who actually dislike the song. Exact percentage seems to be around 0.87%. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoAXW30mMAg Can you find a better rated song?- TobaccoRoad

Starting to hate IEMs...is customs really the answer?
My main complaint is that iems are nowhere near the performance of full-size cans. In terms of comparing to the live sound it doesn't come close. To make the matters worse, earphones are generally for portable use. The background noise in NYC is just too much for any iems to handle..no matter...- TobaccoRoad

DT880 sound leakage question
afaik all open headphones have same amount of sound leakage, but I've never tried a semi-open before. Are there any decent entry level amps on Amazon?
Got few hundreds worth of Amazon gift cards and wondering if there are any decent amps on there. I see few amps that I recognize but none of them seem to be well-regarded in here.
