I have a pair of studio version which I found out its foam discs that cover the drivers (not the earpads) on both sides weren't attached to the drivers at all. Basically the only thing that secured them in place were the earpads themselves. When I took out the earpad the foam just came right off, which I thought was weird. Is this normal? No big deal but I'm curious. Tried contacting AKG but it seems they're on holiday break.

Thanks

I have an older set of 240m and these fabric covered foam earside discs have disintegrated foam affecting the sound, you can buy replacements though, but yes it is normal. Many other headphones have a separate earside foam disc that is simply held tight in position.

Personally i didn't bother putting anything back there.
