It sounds terribly familiar to me, but I can't ID it. Even used the Soundhound app an my phone, and it didn't know it

Joel Goodman did the original music for the show. He's an Academy Award nominated composer who's done lots of TV shows and documentaries. My guess is that it's also his music being played during the closing credits.

I've never heard this before, and (sticking my neck out) I think I would have done if it were a famous classical piece. Apart from the instrumentation, it also doesn't sound like a classical piece; as a gross generalisation, I'd expect a classical piece, even over a shortish length like this, to show more signs of structure than this.  This is basically just one motif repeated over and over, which is exactly what I'd expect of something written as a TV theme tune.
