Looking for a few alpha testers...
Hi all, long time no see! I'm looking for a few (<7 or 8) testers for a very, very simple Visual Basic program that does nothing useful ATM, but I need to determine a few things about MSIE 7. Requirements: MSIE 7 installed, on any version of Windows. Program: All it does (or SHOULD do)...- fewtch

Gilmore Lite (v1) First Impressions...
Note -- this is truly a "first impressions" thread, not a review. I have listened to the amp for a total of about thirty minutes so far, with selections from three or four different CDs. It's already well broken-in, having had at least two owners over the course of as many years. First off...- fewtch

Cool looking HK CD Changer...
Maybe it's just me, but this player really looks cool... might make a good budget source paired with an external DAC (?)... http://cgi.ebay.com/HARMAN-KARDON-HK...QQcmdZViewItem Love the top loading mechanism, less crap to break... if I didn't already have two CDPs I'd bid on this.- fewtch

Cheap motherboard, which would you get?
I'm looking for a budget Socket 939 MB, and have narrowed my search down to these: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813135191 http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813131035 Basically, I need onboard video at least temporarily. Both of these boards are very...- fewtch

Somebody got a heck of a deal...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230016292543 Dang... for about the price of a CD, they got a great sounding player. Wish I'd been paying closer attention, my PC's been shut off most of the day today. Wouldn't have minded an extra player as a backup.- fewtch

Good A/B Switchbox (?)
I think I may have actually found an inexpensive but good A/B switchbox (finally): http://www.garage-a-records.com/preamp.html Scroll down to where it says "Low Noise Phono Switch." Looks like it would work fine for two CD players as well. Just thought I'd let people know about this...- fewtch

Denon DCM-370 - I'm Hooked...
...go in the unit, and unlike single-CD units it's unlikely to last decades. But... the price is right. I think I'll stick with the analog outputs and *not* get a Zhaolu like I was considering... the built in DACs really are pretty dandy to my ears. Well extended on both ends, smooth highs...- fewtch

K701 fans/critics?
When I left the forum for awhile a couple/three months ago, the K701 was getting almost universal accolades -- now it appears to have some harsh critics. Has anyone done a poll to try & gauge forum consensus on these cans? What about fans, how many of you have changed your mind and decided...- fewtch

Zhaolu discreet headamp comparisons...
I'm thinking seriously of getting a Zhaolu in the near future, and am wondering if anyone compared the upgraded discreet headamp to a basic Pimeta or similar circuit. Seems likely that it would be better because it's discreet, but not necessarily... depends on how good the buffering is for...- fewtch

Greets to the forum...
Been away from head-fi a couple weeks, and I don't anticipate posting much for awhile longer (but ya never know). I've been dealing with some depression and lifestyle issues -- basically a midlife crisis, in addition to just being a bit sick of the headphone hobby & short of funds to spend on...- fewtch

Torn between two (budget) sources...
...buy a new source, so I'm stuck between these two: (1) Toshiba SD-3980 DVD player. Excellent PRaT and bass/treble extension, good resolution but *very poor* transparency and background blackness, poor front panel readout (displays only track number). (2) Rotel RCD-855 CDP. Poor PRat and...- fewtch

Hosting pics from 06 Natl' Meet... question for the photographers
Hiya, If you posted some pics, I'd possibly like to host one or more of them in the future on a personal headphone-related website (which will NOT be for profit). Is it OK with you guys if I borrow a few of your pics eventually to spice up a personal site, as they're related to the biggest...- fewtch

Budgeting for the K701...
How much are you guys paying *shipped* for your K701s? Around $350? And where did you get 'em? I currently own a K501 and Beyer DT250-80, both in excellent condition. Best case I could get $120 for the DT250 and $100 for the K501, which would bring me to $220. That would leave me around $130...- fewtch

First thoughts on the Beyer DT250-80
...I can hear the resonances caused by the closed backs, but it's a rather pleasing sound actually. Definite keepers, although the coiled cord is *very* annoying. Glad I have the extension cable from the DT880 lying around. Also, I don't know how I'm gonna store them since they don't fit into...- fewtch

Flood of K340s for sale?
Strange, seems like everyone and his brother is selling a pair of K340s on the FS forums lately. Either it's the FOTM syndrome burning out, or people are finding them in their attics or something . Anyway, interesting...- fewtch

Extremely catchy songs...
...the music will still be haunting me a full week from now. I don't really even like any of the music much (except "Somewhere (there's a place for us)"), but can't get it out of my skull. Anyway, what songs have you heard lately that you consider to be *extremely* catchy, to the point of... -
Simple A/B Switchbox...
A couple years I did a search and couldn't find a single high quality A/B type switchbox online (two sources to one output, or vice-versa)... lots of cheapo audio/video switchers with dubious sound quality, but *nothing* that looked any good. Any tips?- fewtch

A tale of HD-414 pads...
I received my Sennheiser HD-414 yellow pads today, and immediately tried them out on my Koss Portapro2s. The original plan was to use them on top of the stock pads, and that's the first thing I tried. Sounded pretty good, but my first thought was "why would I listen to these over my other...- fewtch

Vintage CDPs selling for too much?
Been browsing the vintage CDPs on eBay, and it seems to me many of them are selling for too much. Adcom GCD-575 for $215.51, Rotel RCD-975 for $224.50, to name a couple. I don't get why these players are going for over $200... we're talking early 90s players and in some cases (like the Adcom)...- fewtch

Remote control for vintage gear
Just wanted to recommend the universal remote I picked up for my Rotel RCD-855: Radio Shack catalog number 15-1908 (5-in-one). Great remote because (A) it controls a pile of vintage gear including CD players and amps/tuners, (B) it's documented online, (C) it takes 4 "AAA" batteries and is...- fewtch

DT-880 comfort appreciation thread
After awhile, I completely forget they're on my head -- enough said. P.S. I really don't understand the gripes of a few about the weight of the headband pressing on the head. I wear my hair very short, and have no issues whatsoever. I just don't feel the pressure at all (seems perfectly...- fewtch
