GLite, Canamp with gain setting?
Andrew, in your experience does the GLite with dps really come close to the performance of a GS-1? With the DACT, your GS-1 costs twice the GLite setup, and I'm curious about your usage frequency of both amps. When I got my LD2+ I found it hard to switch on my Supermini anymore.- drxpert

GLite, Canamp with gain setting?
I have a budget of around 400 for a home amp and I've been looking at the Heed Canamp and GLite. My concern is that I need a gain switch for use with my etys and beyers, something that doesn't seem to be available on those 2 amps. Would the hornet be comparable in performance with these home...- drxpert

how much do your glasses cost?
Wow glasses sure are expensive in the states. Here in Singapore you can get cheap frames for under 50 bucks. Nicer ones go for less than 100, and designer frames can be gotten for under 200.- drxpert

Thinking of going CD player route...
I prefer my A8T to the rega planet. More detailed, wider soundstage and instrument separation (from the transistor output). If you want a smoother sound, the tube output will deliver. Here it cost around $400 shipped from China, and at that price point it trounces the competition. In this...- drxpert

Little Dot II+ impedance jumper?
Unscrew the lower two screws of the front and back panels, and remove the bottom plate. From underneath, between the front plates and the mullard tube sockets, there are 2 black jumpers CN1 and CN2. For my set, gain is 9 with the jumpers on and 6 without.- drxpert

Will an in-line attenuator degrade sound quality?
Yea, what I'm concerned with is sound alteration. I'd be really interested in getting an attenuator that doesn't change the sound in any way, so there'd still be a use for it even if I change equipment.- drxpert

Will an in-line attenuator degrade sound quality?
My LD2+ is too loud. Using the DT990s, I never turn the knob past 8 o'clock. However there's noticeable channel imbalance at low volume levels. The Rothwell 10db attenuators might solve the problem, but I'm concerned that they would degrade sound quality. Has anyone had experience with them or...- drxpert

Beyer dt 880 or 990
If you enjoy the 'in your face' soundstage with your rock, try a Grado. Otherwise, DT990s are a pretty safe bet for rock.- drxpert

Little Dot LD2 Review
Burning in my new LD2+ now. The main issue I have with it is that the bass isn't as punchy and as defined as I'd like it to be. Otherwise, the tube-treatment it gives acoustic material is pretty sweet. Eric Clapton sounded like he was playing in the room- drxpert

NAD C542 vs MusicHall 25.2
If you have the chance to, definitely audition the planet. As long as you enjoy an 'analog' sound, my guess is you'll like it. Who knows, you might end up walking away with an apollo- drxpert

If you don't own Dream Theater's "Awake", do yourself a favor and go buy it now.
Can't really take the singing on some tracks in Awake. I like it when the singing is like Finally Free in Scenes From A Memory. -

Has anyone been able to contact cattylink?
One of the sources for Chinese gear in Oz is www.coemaudio.com.au. They're the authorized distributor for Original. There's a branch here too, but the markup is so high that I was kinda shocked. I'm fine with supporting local shops, but not when the price is twice of what you could get online...- drxpert

Chinese websites as in, really Chinese, from China. From what I've heard from people who've had experience with them, they tend to charge you a lower price if you contact them in Chinese (I did).- drxpert

How does the Apollo compare to Zhaolu D2?
I made a trip to the local rega dealer, wanting to audition the apollo. Unfortunately it's out of stock, so I listened to the planet instead. What impressed me was the musicality and cohesiveness of the sound. It was more analog-ish than other digital sources I've heard. Since the apollo is said...- drxpert
