Your favorite cd of the year!
Tool - Lateralus This album is amazing, and you all owe it to yourselves to buy it and listen to it regularly. Apart from the phenomenal drumming, intricate song structures and intelligent lyrics, it is one of the best-sounding rock CDs I've ever heard. Provided you have a good HDCD player... -

Taking the SACD plunge! Now auditioning Sony SCD-C333ES!
Mark, Thank you SO much for sharing your steal of a find. I just went out yesterday to Good Guys and bought one for myself! Quite a step up from my PC CD player! Keep us posted after you get the Wright mods done, I'm considering those too! I've had this thing on for about 50 hours straight...- Brian

Taking the SACD plunge! Now auditioning Sony SCD-C333ES!
Congratulations on the purchase. I too have been considering the 333es for its SACD capabilities and potential for being an outstanding redbook player especially with some Dan Wright style mods. Question: How the hell did you get a 333 at Good Guys for that price!? I have never seen one at...- Brian

Weather Report!
I re-recommend the Sony remaster of Jaco's self-titled solo debut. Man the first cut on that is amazing. I was about to mention 'Birdland', I'm sure everyone has heard that song, most probably just don't know it was Weather Report. BTW, The String Cheese Incident does a great cover of... -
Weather Report!
Yea Weather Report has some great songs and their live jamming was great. Didn't Jaco Pastorius play bass with them for a long time? That guy is THE MAN! -
Audigy officially announced
Sorry, maybe I should have worded that a bit differently. Yes, the Audigy works internally at 48Khz which is kind of frustrating, I just meant that you can configure it to output a 44.1 stream from the S/PDIF port, whereas with earlier generations of the Live card, the output was a 48Khz stream...- Brian

Audigy officially announced
Here's some more info on the new card. Apparently, you can finally choose the SPDIF out sampling rate. Now you can set it at 44.1, 48, or 96 i think, instead of having it be locked at 48. Also all the jacks are now gold plated again, instead of those silly colored plastic ones on previous...- Brian

Amazing guitar performances
Damn right! It's eerie listening to that song through a good headphone system, it really feels like you're in the studio right next to him, I mean you can hear the buzzing of the amp change as he moves around while playing. His live versions of "Riviera Paradise" are pretty amazing too. That... -
Amazing guitar performances
Right on Neruda! You've seen the Live at Pompeii video right? If not go out and get it right now. You get to see Gilmour do his magic in a cool closeup of the Echoes solo, and it's sweet to watch him just sit down with his guitar on the ground fiddling with his echo-box and slide during... -
Software for music listing....
Hey, I use Feurio to manage CDs on my computer. It's really a great program, mainly intended for burning audio discs. But it does have an integrated CD player with the option of using Digital extraction (so you can send the CD stream through the PCI bus and out of your card's S/PDIF port for...- Brian

HD580 problem
Thanks for the info guys. It's definately not a case of mis-matched drivers, the left channel is about 50%-70% the volume of the right one...it does seem to be an intermittent connection problem. Since I just got the phones a day ago, I'd rather not send them in just yet and have to wait...- Brian

HD580 problem
Finally got my 580s yesterday, and after a 24hr breakin, I put them on...to discover that the left channel is much softer than the right channel. I tried using a different amp, and I tried using both the 1/4" and 1/8" plugs but both seem to suffer this problem. Sometimes the sound drops out...- Brian

Electronica Essentials
Yea, I can't believe I forgot Aphex Twin! I totally agree though that it may be too "wierd" for people just getting into the genre. But man, even newbies would probably love his music videos. They're great! Especially Donkey Rhubarb and Windowlicker. Windowlicker is an awesome song, and one of... -
review: alice in chains "live" electric album

Electronica Essentials
Excellent suggestions! Although I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of Steve Roach or Jestofunk...living in America is lame when you're an electronica fan. I'll try and find those CDs though, you seem to have high regards for the same stuff I do. What about Autechre though!? Check out... -
Sony D777 vs Panasonic CT470
Hey guys, I have the opportunity to snag either a used D-777 in great condition for pretty cheap, or an unused Panasonic CT470 for about the same price. While I've heard both, I can't make a fair comparison, as I've only heard the D-777 through the earbuds that come with it. I like the...- Brian

Hi, Now that a bunch of you have heard the Corda HA-1, what do you guys think of it? Maybe I should just start a new thread about this.... anyway I've only heard 1 person comment on it, saying it was between the Headroom Supreme and Maxed-out Home in terms of quality, but was the king of...- Brian
