Where to get Takstar hi2050 in the US
Yea they are nice headphones, just get someone to cable mod them. I'd so it as well but I just deal with it. I'd love to get a removable cable mod myself. That would be the best.- alphaproject

Weird, I always assumed the hi2050 and pro80 had the same earcup design. Are you saying they are indeed round like the Dt 770 or all together different from the DT770 And Pro 80's...???- alphaproject

I had the DT 770 but they are round vs oval. I'm assuming the hi2050 fits the same as the takstars/Gemini's right? If so just get the HM5 pads. They are the best pads to use with the Gemini's in my mind. Hm5 pads fit much better than the DT770 pads.- alphaproject

Well they don't require a lot of power and a laptop sounded great. My Toneport UX2 sounds better though. I think for the price you can afford to try....loving them more every day. Sold my DT770's and CAD audio cans as well.- alphaproject

Yea....whole new level of comfort. They also add more isolation I believe. Great idea to use such versatile cups except they are bigger. The cups tend to veer outwards a bit as if they aren't REALLY meant to fit but they do once you get them in place nicely. I read they also fit the HD...- alphaproject

Yea, the HM5 pads are huge. Should add additional isolation indeed. I've heard the HD 380 block out a lot of sound but they are not nearly as good in the sound dept. as the Pro 80's....not even close. I think they block out a lot.- alphaproject

Well...I don't have any sort of noise in mine. I am not able to EQ anything because my source is the UX2 toneport. Well...I'd need to EQ the song player itself. But the cans don't seem to need any sort of EQing from what I can hear unless you want to tame some of the highs. Which I'm fine with...- alphaproject

Yea I went on faith when buying all my headphones. The only place to test a few was a music store and they had AKG's....never liked the way any of them fit. I see some people show a huge selection of headphones to try out....that would be awesome. What led me to the Gemini's was a long...- alphaproject

Exactly.... by no means are the stock pads complete junk. I wear them just fine but they aren't as good as some other pads....I preferred the HD 598 pads...true. However... after getting used to the sound of these...it's just best to put the best pads on them that is available. Just be glad...- alphaproject

Depends where you live as well. If you live in US...Amazon is good. Or Ebay from good sellers. However....I can't recommend the DT 770's over the HSR 1000. There's no way unless you want something that simply doesn't sound as good. I'm prolly going to sell my DT 770's actually. They...- alphaproject

http://www.amazon.com/Technical-Pro-HPT990-Professional-Headphones/dp/B0057CW4UU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8 Looks like this company might be done with these. So 2050 clones retired in this fashion. I prefer the closed Pro-80's anyhow / Gemini HSR 1000 but I just didn't even...- alphaproject

Yes it was quick because I'm not going to go over what others have already said. They are like a movie theater on your head. I got the stock HM5 pads, not velour. I heard it changes the sound too much. Source was Toneport UX2. FLAC files / MP3/ Youtube/ Trailers....everything. It does...- alphaproject

They beat my DT 770's. That was enough for me. Everything about them was better. Vocal clarity, soundstage....upfront vocals...beautiful and not just for the price. Under rated... people don't know what they are missing.- alphaproject

I agree. If you are going to find better...it's going to be costly. HD600 most likely. I do like the way those HD series fit...regardless of sound. I'd love to compare the HD 600 though on my exact setup. I can't really tell in the store if the HD598 are worth it either...just can't be sure.- alphaproject
