Help me chose closed over the ear headphones in between 100-200$

imo one of the best value $200 headphones wld be the akg k7xx (basically the black version of the $450 akg k702 65th anniversary edition). you will notice a sound quality difference upgrading to that from any other sub-$200 headphones if your source files are at least 320kbps mp3. if your source quality is poor and you upgrade to nicer headphones, you will actually experience worse sound quality because the nicer headphones are more revealing and accurate of the source file.

other options off the top of my head: hd600 and hd650 can be found nowadays near $200 on sale. also, he-400 used often goes for that price. beyers dt-series also.

He's looking for closed headphones

ahh lol... totally missed that. nvm then. all my recommendations were open.

closed I think sound magic hp150 or hp200 and akg k550/k553 for closed under $200. the beyer dt770 is closed non-portable. akg k545 if you need portability (though you can probably use the sound magic on the go too). ath-50/ath-50x if you like the v-shaped sound signature.

Arh msr7 is a headphone that is pretty revealing. slightly on the bright side and at $219.99 at accessories jack.

Well, I have to admit at first I didn't want any open headphones but at that price and those ratings I might consider them.

Most people who have owned both liked the Pro 80s more in the sound department. If that help at all.

Looks like this company might be done with these.

So 2050 clones retired in this fashion.

I prefer the closed Pro-80's anyhow / Gemini HSR 1000 but I just didn't even want people to have to get Takstars only because of the wait.

I got mine within a week from ebay. US shipping.

Best place for Gemini are this guy on ebay and Amazon probably.

If you go Takstar you might be waiting awhile. I made the mistake of getting pads from Mp4 instead of ebay. Same price and everything... The wait is killing me.

2050's seem to be available also

But with Takstar Pro80's I am afraid of bad pads quality and I dont know how hard is to buy separate good ones and replace them.

Hi there. I want to buy my first 'good' pair of HP. I started looking over the net couple of days now. First, I want to use my HP on my sony system, but when traveling to work also, and at work, of course. I mostly listen to classical music, electronic music (like kraftwerk) dub, raggae, jazz (flac/loseless) etc. I first stumbled upon m50's. But i turnen them down because I don't want  some headphones to reveal every imprefection, since I'm not mixing/djing/monitoring etc.

I've gathered a bunch of maybes, like

https://www.avstore.ro/casti/audio-technica-ath-ax5is/
https://www.avstore.ro/casti/sennheiser-hd-449/
http://www.soundcreation.ro/casti-hi-fi-cid376_2221/audio-technica-t500-id9887.html
And so on. I don't have where to listen to those, so I need your experience in chosing (not only from them). Thanks.

Hmm.. I listen almost exclusively to jazz and classical myself. For the office I prefer closed headphones. You're less likely to annoy your colleagues and you will hear far less from the guy at the next desk nattering on his mobile for 4 hours straight each day.

The HD 215: Meh. Nothing really wrong with it but it somehow lacks a bit of detail.
ath5: Not familiar with it.
HD-449: actually quite a likeable sound. Pretty decent allrounder but incredibly open, you can hear a fly in the next room during the quiet passages in a string quartet.
Audio-Technica T500: only had a very brief encounter with this. Nothing really wrong with it but.. it didnt exactly move me.

Have you considered:

I'm not really sure right now. I'm bouncing between well know brands and lesser known brands.

Depends where you live as well. If you live in US...Amazon is good. Or Ebay from good sellers.

However....I can't recommend the DT 770's over the HSR 1000.  There's no way unless you want something that simply doesn't sound as good.

I'm prolly going to sell my DT 770's actually. They need new pads and have a cracked piece of plastic that can be replaced but serves no real purpose.

I just don't ever want to hear them again after the HSRs....just no need.

I can buy them from amazon/alibaba. The price can't be beaten even when shipping is added. Besides, I don't mind waiting.

The pads I use on my Pro 80s are the HM5 pads. You can get them here: http://www.mp4nation.net/brainwavz-hm5-spare-earpad-1-pair
