NEW Schiit Lyr 2: Impressions
So I have a Lyr 2 and Bifrost Uber combo, but thinking about trying out balanced connections with the Mjolnir. Would the Bifrost be a good companion for the Schiit Mjolnir. I'd rather not upgrade the DAC yet. Granted a concern is the difference sizes--they wont stack up very well.- PiMoGo

I'm using itunes w/ the amarra addon. The files are flac files. I tried again and I guess at 11am its fine but as i continue to listen i find myself turning it up and up.. until i'm around 1-2pm (rock/pop/etc). With classical i keep turning it up until i'm easily at 4-5pm. Thanks for the inquiry!- PiMoGo

Recently purchased these for home listening. I'm driving these using a Bifrost Uber/Lyr 2 w/ Orange Globe tubes. I find myself having to turn up the knob on high gain to the 3 or 4 o clock position when listening to classical music. I've gone as far as all the way on certain passages. I would...- PiMoGo

NEW Schiit Lyr 2: Impressions
thanks for your help! So i tried my windows laptop, still through USB (dont have optical on me anyway) and here I'm able to adjust all my volume levels. I ensure my system volume as well as my tidal volume were set at 100%, but stil i was able to take the volume knob to past 75%, reaching 100%...- PiMoGo

NEW Schiit Lyr 2: Impressions
So I just checked, and yes indeed my volume does get disabled on my Macbook when i connect to the Bitfrost and/or Hrt Music Streamer via USB. IN any case, on most music i'm fine around the noon to 1pm spot, but with classical i'm able to push it much further past 75% (even during musical peaks)...- PiMoGo

NEW Schiit Lyr 2: Impressions
Recently obtained a Lyr 2 to drive my Beyerdynamic 250 Ohm headphones, but was really surprised that I had to turn the volume up to 75+% of full on classical pieces. I was expecting considerable more headroom. What if i had the 600ohm cans, for instance? I'm feeding the amp through a DAC...- PiMoGo

Beyerdynamic DT-880 250ohm & Lyr 2 headroom
I recently got a Lyr 2 to drive my DT-880s but found that to get loud volume on classical pieces I had to turn the volume up to 75% (at times even more). I thought the Lyr 2 would have considerably more headroom for a 250 ohm can. What if it were a 600 ohm? Any ideas? I'm driving these through a...- PiMoGo

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
how would the alpha primes fit into this? as a natural sounding headphone, according to my understanding, and a closed one at that, would that be a recommendation for someone looking for something akin to or better than the pm-3 for office listening?- PiMoGo

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
thanks! i'll look those up. I really wanted the fostex (as everyone raves about them) but alphas may do nicely. i just dont want to go backwards in term of SQ, esp in terms of clarity. more soundstage would be a nice to have as well as a bit more sparkle in the highs. a little more...- PiMoGo

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
I have the PM-3s, purchased them recently, but for long hours of listening at work I'm finding the small ear cups to be more than a little irritating. I prefer larger sized cups that fully encompass my ears as well as not warm them up so much. This is unfortunate because whereas I like the sound...- PiMoGo

OPPO PM-3 Portable Planar Magnetic Headphones Loaner Program
Thats interesting, regarding the 'hot treble', in my case I found the exact opposite to be the case. I felt it lacked a bit of sparkle on the treble. I was very satisfied with everything else. I'm actually experimenting with using an EQ to bring the treble up a little bit. To my ears, and in...- PiMoGo

I was curious if since you are using the headphone out to the amp, instead of the line out which the dell dj does not have, are you satisfied with the sound?
