Airpods pro
I’m not sure someone choosing Sony over Apple is really purchasing a less mainstream brand. I think that you can buy higher quality boutique gear that sounds better than most mainstream gear, and pay a premium for it. Whether the price is worth the rapidly vanishing law of returns is a...- richpjr

Airpods pro
I tried both the first and second gen, and neither worked for me. They were uncomfortable and would not stay in my ears. The AirPod Pro fit my ears very well, are very comfortable (wear them for hours at work) and don’t fall out. I have gone running them a couple of times with no issues...- richpjr

Airpods pro
I can't say that I have noticed much change in sound quality after breaking them in, but I am extremely happy with these. They are very comfortable and stay in my ears so much better than the first and second gen.- richpjr

I just looked at my Apple Care receipt and it shows my coverage ends on 10/31/2021 so maybe Canada gets an extra year over the 2 years in the US???- richpjr

I did this weekend and they stayed in just fine. The first gen ones never stayed in my ears so I could not use them.- richpjr

Airpods pro
So curiosity got the better of me and I picked up the AirPod Pros at lunch today. I have the unfortunate combination of a big head and big ears, so comfort is always an issue for me with headphones. I have Powerbeats3 and Plantronics Backbeat Fit for working out and neither are very...- richpjr

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones
I was just in a Best Buy last night and they had one on display (but none in stock). I got to play with the PX7 for a bit and was surprised at how much more comfortable they are than my PX. I really did not have much interest in upgrading but am now rethinking this.- richpjr

Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless
I searched this thread but did not see a definitive answer so I'll ask: how much do these leak? Could you wear them sitting next to someone on a plane or train without bothering them?- richpjr

Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears
Best noise cancelling, light and comfortable are all important and should be given some weight. It doesn't do much good to have headphones with superb sound that are so heavy and uncomfortable that they can't be worn for more than 15 minutes. It's a balancing act that manufacturers have to...- richpjr

smsl su-8 dac?
How much, if anything, does a switcher like this degrade the signal? I'd hate to spend money on a DAC and amp to get a better sound, only to degrade with a noisy component!- richpjr

I went from a Bifrost Multibit to an SU-8 and don't need anything to clean up the USB input. I am quite please with the upgrade - noticing things in recordings I never heard with the Bifrost.- richpjr

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)
Agree with everything you say. What’s even better is Amazon is selling them for $480 now. I picked them up a couple of weeks ago and am very happy with my purchase.- richpjr

smsl su-8 dac?
I just received the SU-8 and am replacing a bimby with it (moving that to my office). I think the SU-8 is more neutral and more detailed than my Bifrost. I was kind of surprised to find that I greatly preferred the SU-8. I have only had the SU-8 for 2 days and the filters are definitely...- richpjr

Beyerdynamic Amiron Home (the new T90)
My Amiron Home came in today and I have been listening (unburned in) all night. Being "blessed" with a big head and big ears, I am loving the light clamping and comfort of these things! I'll withhold serious judgement of them until after they burn in a while, but they are already outpacing my...- richpjr

You mentioned you find the SH-8 superior to the DX7S. In what way? Sound? Power? Have you tried either with low impedance headphones? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm trying to decide which way to go (or splurge on an ADI-2 DAC).- richpjr

That is interesting and not what I would have expected for the SH-8 vs the amp in the DX7S. How about the usability of the two? The tiny screen on the SMSL seems kind of limiting. Glad to hear it can drive your 6XX as I have an HD600 and soon to be delivered Beyerdynamic Home.- richpjr

smsl su-8 dac?
That is a good deal. I had toyed with the idea of a DX7S vs an SU-8 and a power amp. The SH-8 matches it, but seems underpowered from what I can gather. Of course, the knock on the DX7S is also that it is underpowered.- richpjr
