IEM for ~$50
I like bass, but I'm more rock/metal than anything else so good even performance across the board would be best. Has no one had experience with the Denon's?- spiN

IEM for ~$50
So I'm in the market for some IEMs (not earbuds, they don't isolate well enough and never stay in properly) for my DS and my iPod. I've got a pair of SR-60s that have served me well for traveling purposes, but they get cumbersome to carry sometimes especially on long trips when I have a million...- spiN

How would you spend $500 on a portable set up?
I already have my ideal portable setup. Which would be: iPod 4G 20GB (rockboxed) + SR60 Carries most of my music that I like in high quality. I'm not a big fan of IEMs so something more portable and not super expensive (seeing as how I would be walking around/traveling with them) which...- spiN

Opposite of HD 555?
I've personally never heard the HD555, but if you look in my sig, you'll notice that I have some experience with how they sound. I also own the SR60s and I can attest that they have a completely different sound signature. If different, cheap, comfy, and fun are what you are looking for, then I...- spiN

Specific Urgent Request (local, $150, closed, comfort)
You might be able to talk your local Guitar Center into selling you a pair of DT770 Pro/80's for around that much. They completely meet the requirements that you specified.- spiN

BeyerDynamic DT770 80 or 250 ohm?
Perhaps ignorance is bliss, but I'm running my DT770 out of my Audigy 2 ZS with no real problems. Sure they're a bit difficult to drive, but they sound pretty ok to me. Especially after letting them burn in with some pink noise they really opened up and the bass tightened up quite a bit. If...- spiN

They're finally here! :D
That's kind of hard for me to judge since I haven't heard to many headphones. I would say, however, that they are more lively than the HD 570 and HD280pro if at least by a little bit. On that note I would like to mention that the SR-60 does sound more lively than the DT770.- spiN

They're finally here! :D
Alright well after they burned in for about 48 hours or so with about 8-9 hours of pink noise on top of that, they sound like they're pretty settled in. I have to say that I'm quite happy with my purchase. They present my music quite nicely as well as movies. Finally played some games today and...- spiN

dt770's for me?
Not having any issues here with my DT770s and metal. Especially after I threw some pink noise on them for about 8-9 hours. Opened them up and tighten up the bass a touch. It's nice. Examples of what I listen to: Dream Theater, In Flames, Soilwork, Rage, DevilDriver, Evergrey. They all sound...- spiN

Budget amp for DT770
I just got my DT770s and now I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive amp so I can put my 5-disk cd-changer to good use. It's been sitting around for forever so I don't remember how it sounds. Could be bad, could be decent, dunno. I'd like to keep it in the sub $100 range as I don't have a lot of...- spiN

Closed metal headphone recommendations?
Listening to some Dream Theater on my Beyers as we speak. The next artist on my playlist is In Flames. They both sound wonderful on the DT770.- spiN

Beyer DT770s are rubbish and I have a tiny head!
Obviously the Beyer sound signature is not for you. I personally love my DT770s. I hear plenty of detail, more than my hd280s, even on bass heavy tracks. From what I hear it sounds like the A900s might be right up your alley. Give them a shot.- spiN

They're finally here! :D
Oh man. I threw some pink noise on last night for about 8 hours and it's opened these babys right up. It almost sounds like that it's lost some of they're impact on bass. But it also seems to have tightened the bass a touch more too. Mids and highs sound more open and more detailed. Overall I'd...- spiN

returning a700's for dt770's
They're comfy, they isolate like mad, and they have a great sound signature for watching movies. I'd say they'd be great for your collection if that's what you are using them for.- spiN

They're finally here! :D
Yea, I'd definitely say they're better. The bass reminds me of the HD280pro, tight, controlled, and deep. That and you don't have to EQ the bass up on the DT770s just for them to be heard properly. The DT770 is generally clearer all around and does just as good a job at isolating. They're also...- spiN

They're finally here! :D
I'll try to do some pictures, but all I have is the crappy camera on my cell. After 19 hours of burn-in time the bass has tightened and appears more controlled than when I first listened to them. The mids and highs are still smooth and clear. Currently listening to Tool - Vicarious. I'm...- spiN

dt770/80 or 32
They're driven on a mediocre level out of my sound card on my desktop. On a laptop, I would imagine you would have about the same amount of power if not less. The reason why I got the 80s (besides the fact that I got them off eBay for $153 shipped) is because I eventually plan on getting an amp...- spiN

Built-in laptop sound sucks really bad. Get yourself either a decent USB sound card or one of these. If you are not even going to consider getting an amp, then the 32 Ohms are going to drive better.- spiN
