Head-Fi 2012 Christmas Gift Exchange Whadjaget? Thread
Quote: Will vouch for The Flashbulb, especially this album. Great music if you enjoy ambient/glitch type of stuff; my personal favorite track is "Warm Hands in Cold Fog". Sounds like a good exchange!- DayofCalm

Head-Fi 2012 Christmas Gift Exchange Whadjaget? Thread
Had MorbidToaster as my exchange partner this year... All I can say is, if you get paired up with him, consider yourself lucky :D Ended up with a boatload of CDs this year... I told him I liked electronica, but this is all new to me! Making my way through all of it, so far so good. BT -...- DayofCalm

Double Helix Cables Thread
Massive pics post! A huge thanks to Peter for putting on the Halloween contest again this year... not too often that you run into somebody in the audio industry willing to go to such great lengths regarding conducting giveaways for their fans. I was fortunate to be the winner of the Goliath...- DayofCalm

Ohio
Columbus Head-fier reporting in. Well, Columbus from Winter Break (~ Dec 21 - Jan 21) and summers (May-August). Otherwise at school elsewhere. Definitely interested if this comes together in the applicable time frame; if it does, I could chip in some LCD-2s with a Lyr/Bifrost stack as well as...- DayofCalm

Double Helix Cables Thread
If my audio equipment can't kill vampires, I haven't gotten my money's worth. EDIT: The spikes were part of a used deal, but for anybody interested I'm pretty sure they're Super Cell Audio Spikes, either the 2nd or 3rd down on that page. They work well enough! I don't really know about their...- DayofCalm

Double Helix Cables Thread
Can't believe I didn't see this thread earlier! Just going to throw in my two cents in support of Peter's work. I have the Macromolecule from him for my LCD-2s, and will testify to the quality of the craftsmanship, aesthetics, and sound. Definitely a great product, there's no two ways about...- DayofCalm

Pictures Of Your High End System (Please see the first pages for examples of what should be posted here)
That being said, I -did- buy the MAC and Audioquest used at (relatively) reasonable prices. I won't try to defend the cabling purchases though, beyond feeling that I won't have to change them for a while and will probably recycle most of them even if the gear moves up (balance being the...- DayofCalm

Quote: Yeah, I probably got a bit out of hand with that. Looking back, maybe would've gone low-cost on the optical and RCAs; the DHC was definitely unnecessary, but one of those things where I wouldn't feel settled 'til I had it :/ Quote: Prolly gonna hold off on the upgrades...- DayofCalm

Man, so envious of the systems in here.. Someday xD 'til then, though this hardly deserves to be posted here... Welcome to College-Fi. Alienware M17x >> Lifatec Optical cable >> Schiit Bifrost >> Audioquest Diamondback RCAs >> Schiit Lyr (Reflector 6N23P Super Cryo /...- DayofCalm

Electronic Music Exchange (House, DnB, Dubstep, etc.)
Quote: Even the dubstep mix isn't -that- bad; the piano interlude-y bits still sound incredible with the Rivers Flow in You Melody. Actually can't praise it enough. Funny, too, cause it's not a particularly high-energy song or anything like that, either, as hhc tends to be. Also, c'mon... -
Electronic Music Exchange (House, DnB, Dubstep, etc.)
Quote: That is, without question, my favorite hhc tune ever as well. It's actually magical. And yeah, I guess I coulda guessed that there wasn't much after 2009 :/ c'est la vie, now is the era of electro and dub, about which I have few complaints. -
Electronic Music Exchange (House, DnB, Dubstep, etc.)
Anyone have any good happy hardcore recommendations post-2009? D: -
Audophile headphones that don't require an amp or dac

Spider PowerForce Headphone Appreciation
TL;DR section at the bottom. Although it’s taken me far too long (sorry Spider!), my review of the Spider Cable Powerforce headphone is finally here! Enter to win Spider First Headphone "PowerForce"
^^ Same with me. Should be a few weeks according to Spider, but when they arrive I'll keep you all posted. I opted for the black; so it looks like we'll get to see the aesthetic differences more thoroughly. Good stuff! Thanks again to Spider for the opportunity, I'm sure it'll be an interesting...- DayofCalm

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)
Alternatively, if you can save up to ~$400-$450 (400 used 450 new), it would be worth your while to go for the Schiit Lyr. It matches very well with the LCD-2 from my experience. Quote:- DayofCalm

LCD-2 r6 will just be the drivers glued to your ears; the sound's purest that way I'm told. They'll offer to professionally glue them for you, just for a small service fee Quote:- DayofCalm

Electronic Music Exchange (House, DnB, Dubstep, etc.)
Really interesting genre that I just now discovered: Electro Swing. I feel like it won't get too much love around here (and nor will DJ Ravine, probably :p) but it's at least worth posting if anyone wants to check it out! Not really like anything I've heard before.
