CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
The ZMF VC closed work beautifully with the DAVE direct. I usually just listen direct with it, my Riviera does not add much. I have not compared with the Utopia or HEKse direct from DAVE. However, based on experience with other headphones, it seem easy to drive headphones play very nicely with...- Mikey99

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
With the right headphone pairing the direct output from the DAVE can outdo the best headphone amplifiers. E.g., it is perfect with my Spirit Torino Valkyria, better sounding than through my Riviera AIC-10. It is also very good with my ZMF VC, although that does sound a bit better on the Riviera...- Mikey99

Spirit Torino Valkyria
I have been listening to the Vakyria for a couple of weeks now, comparing them to my Abyss AB1266. The source was an M-Scaler/Dave streaming from Roon/iMac. For amplification, I used a Riviera AIC-10 and Dave. I also tried an Audiovalve RKV HAA Edition. The build quality is amazing, you have to...- Mikey99

Actually better to see in person, I find it a tasteful design. Extremely high build quality, like a piece of fine jewellery.- Mikey99

Spirit Torino Valkyria
I was at Headphone Auditions in Amsterdam today when the Spirit Torino distributor just happened to drop in with a Valkyria. I had not heard of them before this. I was immediately impressed by the quality - easily the best build quality of any headphones I have seen. I compared them to the Abyss...- Mikey99

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Looking at these recent posts, it brings the following to mind. I have seven Chord products, and three of them have had to go back for repairs, including a Dave. Two had the problems out of the box. Meanwhile I have not had significant issues with other equipment. What have others experienced?- Mikey99

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion
It works well, but the supplied Cypher cable is better. My go-to for them is the Chord Hugo2 for semi-portable, and the cypher cable for fully portable.- Mikey99

Chord Electronics - Blu Mk. 2 - The Official Thread
Has anyone run across a problem where the BLU2 struggles to read some CDs? This happens when I load some CDs - I get flashing lines across the display followed by the number 7 and it stops spinning. If I remove and reload the CD it is usually OK, but in many cases I have to do it several times...- Mikey99

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
I am currently using the AIC-10 to drive a pair of Airtight Bonsai AL-05 that I have on demo, in a desktop arrangement (About 1x1x1 m equilateral triangle setup). I don’t know the sensitivity of this model, but numbers I have seen for previous models are ~85 dB, which is close to LS-50. They...- Mikey99

They are Airtight AL-05 Bonsai speakers, which I understand are related to the 47 lab speakers (I think they had the same designer, Takanori Ohmura). I have them on demo, running them from a Riviera AIC-10 amp. Astounding sound from such a small speaker. There is a good review by Absolute Sound...- Mikey99

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
I agree the HPA4 is underwhelming for the TC, it even struggles at times. Not a good match. The Formula S works well, especially with the Powerman which adds more punch. A tube option in the same price range is the Audiovalve Solaris - it drives the TC well, and is a bit more musical than the...- Mikey99

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
I have seen a variety of fixes in this thread. If under warranty they should replace it for free. Otherwise you would need to order a new headband unless you have one of the newer ones. The new headbands look like the rubber bands can be replaced without having to replace the entire headband.- Mikey99
