which are the best in ear headphones? are they the jaybird x2... anything better
i got my X2's a while ago & didnt really pay them much attention cos of the frequent sync/cutout issues when paired with my LG Flex2. as with most ppl, i put the fault with the X2s until it hit me to delete the profile with the LG & try it out with my Lumia 640 spare phone. suddenly all...- scottiebabie

Fostex TH900 mods
i installed lawton's damping tune up mod (sans earpads) last sunday & while i did do a bit of initial listening right after, its not until tonight that i got some decent audition time. i would say that overall, its not a huge difference. however taken in context of reducing the loosey bass...- scottiebabie

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
am somewhat of a purist. i like a set of cans or speakers to sound good flat. that way i know i have the right stuff. once i start with the eq, im not sure where to stop. & what about other my other headphones/speakers?? lawtons mod took about a 1/2hr or so for me (2 left thumbs & all)...- scottiebabie

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
bought a pre-loved TH900 a few months back & while music is sweet, i always found the bass a bit too boomy. did some research & ordered a tune up kit from Lawton Audio & though received it last week, i only found the time today to just finished the install 10mins ago. listening to it now, i...- scottiebabie

ULTRASONE NEW ANNOUNCED HEADPHONE Signature Pro
thats a cool headband mod! headband comfort is fine for now but the earpads are not so accomodating. pads does pinch the upper rear tip of the ears but the slight discomfort does lessen over time making it acceptable. could be better for sure. on the hand, the sound keeps blowing me away! i...- scottiebabie

The Cayin C5 portable power house.
picked up a slightly used minty C5 locally over the weekend & combo'd with a Hidizs dap over LO, its a very good sounding on-the-go rig when matched with a pair of ultrasone signature pro's. i thought the sig pro's sounding very nice just with the hidizs dap but the C5 took it to up to another...- scottiebabie

ULTRASONE NEW ANNOUNCED HEADPHONE Signature Pro
joined the ultrasone train late & only picked up a pair of sig pro's offa fellow headfier here 2 weeks back. gotta say at 1st, i found the sound slightly dark & not as detailed (compared to the hd800 & T1) while soundstage is not up to par with the th900. also found the fit ever so uncomfortable...- scottiebabie

HD800 and T1 musings...
if @jarkoo is trying to say the T1 sounds lusher than the HD800, then i'd have to agree with him. i have done extended listening with both & all things being equal, to me the T1 is a better headphone for pop & hiphop. not to say the Senn wouldnt be satisfying to others. if i were to be...- scottiebabie

HD800 and T1 musings...
IMO its not a matter of whether enough ppl or even lots of ppl use a particular amp or source. at this flagship level, its more a matter of whether U can accept the deficiencies inherent in a less than optimal pairing. im sure a battery operated cmoy amp with enough gain will power the hd800...- scottiebabie

KOSS ESP-950 Thread
nice! i have no doubt that a better dac will be discernable with the esp950. there are so many things i liked about the koss that i made the decision to explore e-stats further. indeed the (as yet unfinished) amp u commented on is a 500v KGSShv. in the meantime i'll be diy'ing a koss2stax...- scottiebabie

HD800 and T1 musings...
IMO for large symphonic & classical material, the HD800 would be your most ideal choice out of the ones u mentioned. again IMO the mixed feelings u had on the Senn maybe due to your upstream components ie. amp & source. while im not deriding either (im sure they nice but i havent heard them), it...- scottiebabie

HD800 and T1 musings...
@ubs28 i totally understand where u're coming from. if we are splitting hairs & are worried about semantics, then i'd be more than happy to amend my original statement. assuming Tyll's measurements are factually correct, indisputable & replicable, i can certainly accept that the T1 isnt as...- scottiebabie

KOSS ESP-950 Thread
nice! exactly what i hope to hear!! the koss's midrange is already sweet so im not looking for more body in that sense. neutral tonality in the vein of a hd600 is what im hoping for. that plus extra bottom/high extension combined with the other positives of the esp950 would make this a keeper.- scottiebabie

while is totally possible that tubes can be great with the T1, i can sincerely say that my SS Dynahi works wonders with the T1 (& HD800 & Grado PS500) sounding detailed & lush with an expansive soundstage.- scottiebabie

HD800 and T1 musings...
i've the utmost respect for Tyll as he's been in this game when alot of ppl here arent even born! that said, i dont know how Tyll's measurements apply in the real world but all i know is that for me, the only meaningful instrument & measurement are whats between my ears. having lived with both...- scottiebabie

HD800 and T1 musings...
far be it for me to be argumentative here but can u elaborate what u meant by "the T1 has awful distortion"? do u mean that the T1 doesnt measure perfectly linear in its FR chart? if so, baring the fact that no headphone (nor speaker for matter) measures a FR of a perfect linear line, which...- scottiebabie

HD800 and T1 musings...
then u should! IMHO since the HD800 is gathering all the attention, the T1 can be had for a great deal - perhaps as low as 1/2 of what one would pay for a used HD800. Its very competent technically & more fun to listen to than the Senn for some genres. however, IMHO the Grado PS1k mite be...- scottiebabie
