I also ordered by paypal. I don't think I received an email from them until they arrived through the post about 8 weeks later, and I didn't chase them. If they have your money then your customs are being customised. Have you phoned them?- Kosmic

You could also have the suction end of a vacuum cleaner pointed towards the canal to help suck any loose debris out, although I've never tried this. Just an idea.- Kosmic
