Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
Thanks Andy. I'm starting to wrap things up with the N7. Streaming Tidal now, so thanks. Sheffield Labs Drum test record. This really allows you to hear what drums SHOULD sound like. It's not as easy as many believe. As a former drummer, I know what a kit is supposed to sound like if it's...- ctsooner22

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
Guys, I'm listening to Michael Jackson Thriller right now. I'm hearing things that I just don't hear with the other DAP's I've own and that used to include the TOTL AK DAP's, (380 cu with matching amp) and the 2k (for a short period of time). It's not quite the N8ii that I auditioned in Tokyo...- ctsooner22

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
That’s the question I too have. I’m really enjoying the N7 so far. I’m not streaming it as I’m concerned about entering my Google log in credentials on a device I have to ship back. I am just using my own SD card with all high res music. I’m hearing so much more than my AK SE25. It’s night and...- ctsooner22

Thanks. I'll try that. I am also on the tour and assumed it was up to date as the shipping was only two days. When was the last firmware offered? Heading up for my daily 2hr recumbent elliptical ride and will be using the N7. Can't wait.- ctsooner22

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
I did download my SD card and LOVED what I heard. It was left on for about 30mins and a bit warm. Easy to hear the difference between Class A and AB. It is connected to my internet, but says it's not connected to the net. I use an Amplify router and it shows it as connected and everything...- ctsooner22

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
just got the N7 in. Box opened, I found the 2.5-4.5 adaptor. HIGH QUALITY. I'm really impressed with the build. It's twice the size of my AK25mk2 which is expected. I keep forgetting how large these better devices are. I use a rollator to walk (MS), so I often have a bag round my shoulder...- ctsooner22

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
Guys, I'm with Andy on this. I have PCM in WAV format as I like it better than Flac if both are recorded well. I also have a fair amount of DSD that I have access to (I need my buddy to download some more for me). Nearly all my WAV files are 24 or 32 bit and much of it is well recorded for...- ctsooner22

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
I’ll be getting an N7 in my system in about 2 weeks or so. I used Vandersteen Quatro CT speakers, Vandersteen M5 mono blocks, Vandersteen preamp, Brinkmann Nyquist mk2 DAC/Streamer and The Memory Player by Laufer Techniques. All cables and cords are top end Audioquest including their Niagara...- ctsooner22

He was there? That's my playground (2 channel audio). If I knew, I'd have tried to get him to head to the Vandersteen Audio room and meet Richard Vandersteen. He's a dear friend and on the Mount Rushmore of Speaker designers in the world. So cool.- ctsooner22

Deezel you are killing me man! I am LOVING my Odin's. I agree with you on where it errs though. IF/when I change from Odin's, it has to be a custom. I really miss my Phantom customs (the UPS store wrapped them when I need to send them back for something and they got CRUSHED in the process...- ctsooner22

Honestly, I love the EE faceplates. I'd love to see a 70's throwback plate. Tie dye or something that looks like blue jeans. Colors would be some of the ugly ones we had back then (avocado or that yellow/gold like the refrigerators back then, lol). Dean is really a genius. I'm blessed as...- ctsooner22

Wonderful and thanks., So happy that you are enjoying it so much. I'm about to sell my AK SR25 to get one I think. I trust a couple of folks who have spent a bit of time with it and it they feel it's my cup of tea for sure.- ctsooner22

Great to see your post. I think many are the same way. I love the Odins. I’ll keep them for a long time. Being a two channel guy, who needs portable, I’m blessed to have found EE and this thread. Got to audition so many high end IEMs in Japan and loved Odins best (bias maybe).- ctsooner22

This is my go to thread when I come to head fi. Awesome stuff always so thanks for letting me play. Have the Cayin N7 coming in a few weeks from the national tour or I may just purchase. Odin’s are still crushing it on my Brinkman Nyquist DAC as well as my cheap AK 25mk 2. Can’t wait to hear...- ctsooner22

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
Dust caps are used in high end, 2 channel audio to prevent spurious interference into the audio circuit. I know in my system it has a very small effect in lowering background noise I wonder if it does that in a DAP other than preventing dust to enter ??- ctsooner22

What’s am I g is that we are talking about a 2k DAP. It’s being talked about in 5e same league as the TOTL DAPs. That’s rare in audio- ctsooner22

I heard the N8ii in Akihabara at the only store that carries EE over there. Heard every TOTL DAP offered and LOVED the N8ii. I don't have the money for that one, b ut if you do, you can't go wrong. it was a great match with my Odins. I also loved the Sony. It was very smooth with great depth...- ctsooner22

Not trying to derail the current thoughts, but wanted to share that Cayin is doing a tour of the new N7 DAP. Not sure if any one is interested, but from the sounds of it, it's a great value at 2k and I'm probably goign to get it if it sounds the way Twister says it does in his initial thoughts...- ctsooner22
