All my albums are encoded in flac (96khz/24bit) so wouldn't have any issue with EQ
this is great news for me. i thought i won’t be able to EQ anything on N7 (let alone DSD format)

Andy, if you could clarify this once more ? My apologies for asking this many times over but sometimes I can get lost between the technical language

I might have hit that sweet spot on EQ or caps are cooked nicely with burn-in but all I know is that it really opened up immensely with great transparency and excitement. All tunes are now well harmonized beyond just a treble extension. Definitely not a dull bedtime player.

N7 can apply EQ to PCM files BEFORE the conversion to DSD512, but the EQ is not applicable to DSD files. So the EQ works partially only.

RS8 doesn’t open up until around 100+ hours and settling in 160-200 hours. I hear N7 complimentary to RS8 – not necessarily one better than other, just slightly different. My GOAT is still RS8 as it has amazing synergies with Xe6 followed by N7 and N8ii for when I want to experience Cayin tube signature.

Overall pretty impressed with N7’s soundstage and upsampling to DSD.

How does N7 to C9 stack up to RS8?

For anyone who hasn’t read Twisters first listen, you need to. Like his other reviews, it’s well thought out and honest. No hype.

The N7 is a fantastic piece of equipment imo. As with any product, it won’t work for everyone and synergy is important. I’m thoroughly enjoying mine tonight with the MSE.
