Dust caps are used in high end, 2 channel audio to prevent spurious interference into the audio circuit. I know in my system it has a very small effect in lowering background noise I wonder if it does that in a DAP other than preventing dust to enter ??

I think it‘s both. There is the old saying: ”RF tightness means water tightness (EDIT: should I better say waterproofness?) , but made of all metal.“ Thus, in ”traditional“ 2-channel audio, metal caps keep both dust and radio frequency interference (RFI) to low levels.
However, devices like DAPs need to let radio frequencies (RF, like WiFi or Bluetooth) enter freely into those areas where the receiving antennas are located. Other areas where sensitive electronic audio components (the DAC, amp etc, whatever their principles) are located should be shielded well. Thus, if the latter premise is fulfilled, I can believe that metal dust caps like the new Cayin ones will have a certain effect in lowering RFI to those sensitive components - besides dust prevention.
Remark: Unfortunately, we know of DAPs which are ”famous“ for RFI, e.g. the iBasso DX320 with the Nutube module (sorry for mentioning).
To me, not a chance. If you want to use full-size headphones with N7, stick with the low impedance high sensitivity designs.
To drive the 300ohm high impedance headphone to a satisfactory level, you need a headphone amplifier with decent voltage swing, and that's exactly the bottleneck to DAP since everything is powered by a piece 3.7V Lithium battery.
N7 is a good match to Rognir on tonal balance, but N7 doesn't have enough power to drive Rognir satisfactorily. The Rognir will ask for more power (and control) than Meze Elite in my experience.
How much burn in time does the N7 need?
Just received mine and matched with my Phoenix. Out of the box, the N8ii seems to have more texture and dynamics in direct comparison with the Phoenix. But the N7definitely tames the treble peaks of my Noir.
You'll hear dramatic changes in the first 50 hours, and it will become fairly stable after 100 hours, but it depends on how revealing your IEMs are, and how hard you are looking for the difference during the audition.
