San Diego/North County California
Hmm, I live near the La Jolla area, about 15-20 minute drive. UCSD is pretty much in La Jolla. I don't know their policy on trying to have an event, but I know they hold a lot of other event stuff there. If it's made public to the university, I'm guessing that UCSD wouldn't mind too much as long...- trigg3rhappy

woo 3+ good for grado too?
If you're wondering what impedance is, you can read up a bit on some simple circuit stuff. You can kind of think of it as resistors/resistance in a sense, but not exactly as simple as that. What resistors do, is that they dissipate power and heat (basically energy). Impedance is a more complex...- trigg3rhappy

Ultrasone Pro 900 vs. Denon AH-D5000
These comparisons seem to be more or less on a stalemate. There doesn't seem to be as much replies or statements made by those who voted on the Denons however. I guess for that reason, I leaned towards the Pro 900. In terms of comfort, I believe the Denons are a bit looser from what I've read...- trigg3rhappy

Grado SR325i vs. SR325is --audible difference?
I was planning on getting a sr325is or sr325i, or possibly the hf-2 which I haven't had time to read reviews on yet or experience them for that matter. I have yet to try the sr325i or sr325is, but I have had a chance to try the rs1. I liked the rs1 quite a bit. However, I was most likely going...- trigg3rhappy

Denon AHD2000 Questions
Loose as in they don't clamp enough to be secured on your head? Or loose as in they won't isolate the outside noise or will leak sound outside to the public like open cans? I'm quite curious about getting a D2000 myself as another possibly closed headphone. I currently use and own pretty...- trigg3rhappy

BeyerDynamic owners unite...
I'm going in! I'm jumping onto the bandwagon! I currently own the DT770 Pro (80ohm) for about 2 years now. They were my first headphone I ever got. I didn't get anything else for quite awhile until probably very recently with my 2nd headphone. I've tried the DT880 Premiums (250 ohm) before...- trigg3rhappy

Ultrasone 40% off select headphones w/ free shipping!
Too bad this discount wasn't for the HFI 780 or the Pro 900. It would have been nice. However, disappointing for me since I got the Pro 900 for more than whatever 40% off would have been like for the Pro 900 on the site. Maybe I would have gotten a pair of the 780s, if super cheap, for public...- trigg3rhappy

Woo Audio Amp Owner Unite
Does anyone know if any of the WooAudio tube amps are capable of working well with low impedance cans such as the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros (80 ohm) or the Ultrasone Pro 900? Sorry, I've never used tube amps and I was very interested in getting one for using with a Sennheiser hd650. I just wanted...- trigg3rhappy

woo 3+ good for grado too?
Yeah, I seem to have this very question as well. However, I was asking about it for the Woo Audio 3 instead of the 3+. I'm not really sure as I haven't really done much research in the department, but what's the difference really between the two models: 3 and 3+ ? Also, just curious, but your...- trigg3rhappy

Do SS amps need a break?
Yeah, as what probably everyone has mentioned before me, no electrical parts were meant to last forever. Most products will state that they have a lifespan of so many hours. Constant use (which is abnormal) for more than just several hours will probably degrade and lower the life span of your...- trigg3rhappy

Well-Priced Portable DAC/Amp for Low Impedance Headphones
Alright, I'll do that, assuming I ever get my hands or find someone I know with the Compass. Maybe whenever that mini-meet is set up somewhere in San Diego as I found in another posting on head-fi, maybe someone will happen to have a Compass. I know someone who's planning on attending that one...- trigg3rhappy

Sennheiser 650 - Dissapointed With Bass
If you're looking for additional bass, maybe you could try some headphones with more emphasized bass. But yeah, most headphones that would emphasize on bass would sacrifice elsewhere in terms of the sound quality. If you're willing to, I believe the DT770Pro or the Ultrasone Pro 900 would...- trigg3rhappy

So why can't you make it to Can Jam?
I couldn't make it to CanJam 09 because of school. I happened to be stuck in an underground lab over the weekend. Pretty much had to stay overnight as well to work on a team project. It was quite sad. My team was rather quite irritated as I constantly went to a computer to get the newest...- trigg3rhappy

I'm in SD. Currently here for school, but there's a possibility for a nice little gathering. I'm currently lacking in terms of a large inventory, but it'll probably build up over time. local retailers in LA area?
Cool, this old thread has been brought back to life. It's nice to see that's there's other stores in the area that have a better variety of things to try out. Thanks for the info on the other stores. Ultrasone Pro 900 vs. Denon AH-D5000
Seems at this exact point, the votes are tied with 50-50. This makes it probably harder for me to decide whether to get a Denon or Ultrasone. Well I can't really have a say in the poll vote, since I haven't tried either. Well, I recently just purchased the Ultrasone 900, since it was easier...- trigg3rhappy

Does Anyone Like the Ultrasone Pro 900?
Yeah, I figured trying them would be the only way to determine whether they suit what I want or not. I should really get some closed headphones, I just don't like using them in public where it tends to be noisy. I like open headphones a lot, just more so in a peaceful quite environment such as...- trigg3rhappy

Where is Singlepower? Where is Mikhail?
I've heard such great things from the amps built by SinglePower, but it's quite a shame to hear so much bad things about the services and Mikhail. I don't entirely know the situation, but hopefully things will turn out well for those who have spent money on them.- trigg3rhappy
