The Mysterious Helios CD Players ...
There's a review of the Helios Model 2 at the Hi-fi choice site. It says that they have reviewed the Stargate as well but it doesn't seems to be on-line. Click here!- WJK

[HELP] X-can v2 PSU tweak
I think that sums it up. I;ve looked at this adaptor about 10 times in confusion and only now do I see AC/DC written on it, plain as day. The thing is I ordered it via RS components here in the UK. It took 3 days and cost me £30 (price you pay for living on a tiny island). I was very specific...- WJK

[HELP] X-can v2 PSU tweak
So, I bought a 12vac 1000ma mains adapter today to replace the X-can's standard PSU. To cut to the chase, it doesn't have the desired effect. The sound is being output at a much lower volume than before and with huge amounts of distortion. My X-can is the V2 model and I'm in the UK. Any advice...- WJK

Inside the Headmaster...
Wow, beaten to it! You sure demolished your Headmaster I think you have a better camera than I have access to so extra pics are kinda redundant now. Also not many parts were labeled.- WJK

Inside the Headmaster...
Kelly, I have to say that pretty much sums up what I saw. Mine's a non-remote version though so replacing the pot shouldn't be much of a problem. I think I might look at taking a basic electronics/soldering course... I'm glad the Headmaster doesn't have legs or it'd be heading for the door right...- WJK

Inside the Headmaster...
I have had my Headmaster for some time now and have been growing ever more curious as to what is contained within it's minimalist exterior. Well, today I threw caution to the wind and opened it up. Now, here is where a problem arises. I know very little about electronic components and as...- WJK

Senn HD600 (or 580, 590) for ROCK music ?
Since getting my HD-600s and the Equinox cable, they have displaced my SR-325s as headphone of choice for all music. I mostly listen to rock. I try out my once beloved 325s every now and again, but I even prefer the 600s for stuff like System of a Down. Also, after an hour with the 325s I'm...- WJK

Madonna new dance track
It's by 'Mad Donna' not Madonna. I've had the displeasure of seeing the video as well as hearing the damn thing. The vocals are a pretty good match though. You can buy it here. I think it's meant for kids though. -
What did you listen to last night?
Well, I litened to/watched Later with Jools Holland and he had Gomez & the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion performing, along with a few other I wasn't so interested in, which was nice. Then I listened to Gomez - 'In Our Gun' as I've had it since it was released, but haven't listened to it as much... -
Poll: What's your primary headphone "listening style"?
Most of my lsitening is done whilst surfing the web, or even playing games on-line if I'm not to bothered about winning . Something that I've noticed is that if I've just bought a new bit of equipment, any differences will pull my attention away from surfing/gaming and back to the music where...- WJK

How to do your store your cans?
All my audio gear is on a low-lying portion of my computer desk (1' above ground). I just lay my headphone of the moment on top on my Headmaster and shove the cable underneath the desk out of the way. Since getting my HD-600s my Grados are lying on my scanner which is stacked upon my CDP. I...- WJK

Hehehe... Grado SR-125... Is it?
Okay... I've tried something very similar to what you described. I don't have any Grado comfies, so I took the foam inserts from my HD-500s, and the pads from my HD-600s and cobbled up something similar to what you describe. I've spent the last hour listening to a few CDs with the modded 325s...- WJK

What's your vote for best album of 2001?
In the last thread I went with 'Muse - Origin of Symmetry' but I've listened to Toxicity a lot more since then, and I feel that overall it's a better album, and certainly a better recording. SoaD it is. Honourable mentions to White Stripes & Turin Brakes. -
Your first phones? The good ones.
Sennheiser HD-545s, bought blind and on a budget. They cost me about £80 which I thought was crazy money in 1999 for headphones. The sound blew me away (at the time), and I instantly forgot about the price tag. May they rest in pieces.- WJK

Sennheiser HD 420 SL
...when my dad purchased them back in the mid-late eighties. They got a fair bit of use and then went pretty much unoticed for a decade or so... *que thunderous drums* UNTIL NOW!!! I took them out of their box, put them on, plugged them into the Headmaster, pressed play and quickly took them...- WJK

Trashing Your Headphones
Grado SR-325 - Like my ears have been attack by a chainsaw weilding manic. Mids and highs slice through my ear drums with gay abandon, leaving me a twitching, drooling figure in my chair. Then along comes the 'Grado Bass' to knock me from my throne and smash me into the floor. Grado SR-125 -...- WJK

Modded HD500s
I'm about to say something I'm not proud of. About a year ago I bought the HD-500s simply to mod them, and acheive the amazing sound described in the article. Boy was I disappointed .- WJK
