The X3 will play multichannel WAV files as mixed-down stereo. That's probably what you read. I tried a few, just to confirm that it will play them. Most multichannel mixdowns don't sound very good in stereo, so it's just a convenience, not that useful.- SallymaeHogsby

Official X3 1st gen firmware thread--3.34beta: removed 5800 song limit, play through folders--Happy Chinese New Year!
The recent X1 update fixes the MP4 (ALAC,AAC) genre labels, so that's something to look forward to. My Beatles will no longer be techno. :)- SallymaeHogsby

I even format the microSD for my Pono in one of my FiiO DAPs, to make sure I can swap between players without worrying about it.- SallymaeHogsby

I'm curious too. Could someone "in the know" explain what the volume leveling is actually doing?- SallymaeHogsby

The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote
On my first-gen X3, I'm able to have music playing both from the HO and the LO (running thru a headphone amp) at the same time. (Nice for a shared listening experience that no one else can hear.) Is this still possible with the second-gen X3? Does this work on any other FiiO DAPs?- SallymaeHogsby

Another possibility that used to cause me problems was unusual characters in titles. I had a Sony player that would cause problems playing Dvořák until I changed them to Dvorák.- SallymaeHogsby

I can't give up 3.34 (too many other things were fixed that bothered me). I've finally gotten into the habit of clicking on "now playing" when I want to leave the quick menu. I still occasionally forget, and get the rude change of track.- SallymaeHogsby

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player
I enjoy well-recorded music on my Pono. But I make multi-genre playlists that also include some less-than-stellar recordings (especially early jazz and blues) that usually need some EQ "help" to sound musical to my ears. Is there a headphone amp with EQ that works well with the Pono?- SallymaeHogsby

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player
Hey #olddude, You're my FiiO-to-Pono authority. :) I have a Pono on order. I listen to microSDs of folder-playlists on my FiiO X1 and X3. Will I be able to just pop my various FiiO-formatted cards into my Pono, and continue listening to them the same way? Or is there something I'll have to do...- SallymaeHogsby

My Pono player will be arriving any day now. Will my FiiO-formated microSD cards (already filled with music) work fine "as is"?- SallymaeHogsby

I'm just guessing here, but I suspect the "Next Folder" setting is on, and it overrides the "Repeat All" setting. Hopefully it's something simple like this. :)- SallymaeHogsby

I use ALAC all the time (lossless, as well as compatible with both iTunes software and FiiO). My only (minor) frustration is that FiiO players don't seem to read the "genre" metadata on ALAC files.- SallymaeHogsby

The Fiio X3 Thread.
I have two X3 Classics. The first was bought around a year ago, and came with the COAX cable. Since I'm in love with the current X3 Classic sound, and use the treble and bass controls, I bought another one a couple months ago, when it was briefly on Amazon for $169. It didn't have the...- SallymaeHogsby
