So I have to stay with older versions for Hardware bass adjustments ?

No it works with all software. Just the EQ is software based and can be disabled.

Yeah, it's the latest and gratest Fw of the X3 as some report
( if it comes to sq changes might also be a placebo)

I have found some SQ difference between the firmwares. Placebo maybe but I do notice them. Mostly soundstage.

I boght a x3 online mainly becsuse of the warm sound and its Hardware based eq functon and i cannot wait to know this, so please let me know about this.
Maby I will try this device and compare it in terms of sq and tell you my thoughts as a really young (15) “audiophile“ with a realatively small budget(This is my first post by the way...and English is not my native Language)

the hardware adjustments are there with all firmwares .... the software eq (5bands ) added lately ...
AND if you bought it mainly because of its warm sound and the hardware eq. (controls) _like me_ you will be very pleased

You have both hardware and software EQ on FW 3.34b. Bass and treble adjustement is hardware EQ (the most efficient), 5 band EQ is software EQ. Hope this helps.

EDIT: FW 3.34b is a great improvement over previous firmwares regarding SQ. It's not just about soundstage, but detail and instrument separation.

+1 for Classic! The FW3.34b sounds the best so far to me as well, but there's this weird, slightly veiled quality to SW eq that I can't really describe. It's less obvious with amping though fortunately.

Thanks very much for the imput guys,i appreciate.i think the x3 and the C5d will pair well.
Now is just a matter to find which earphone would be "ideally" [even if by far] similar to the Jh16 pro, which is almosy prohibitive for my status.

Thanks
Antonio

The X3 comes with a COAX adapter.

I have two X3 Classics.

The first was bought around a year ago, and came with the COAX cable.

Since I'm in love with the current X3 Classic sound, and use the treble and bass controls, I bought another one a couple months ago, when it was briefly on Amazon for $169. It didn't have the COAX cable. Since I don't use it anyway, I didn't mind, especially at the price. (Maybe FiiO was clearing out stock, but wanted to save the COAX cables for the X3 2nd gen?)

I got my X3 for $189.98 last Nov. Bundled with COAX cable,case,3.5mm cable and a 64GB card. Getting ready to pull the trigger on a Schiit Magni 2/Modi 2 UBER stack. The Coax cable will get some use after all I will be using X3 as a source. After yesterdays posts I went to make sure I had the COAX adapter which I did. X3 is so good I use in home system, car, as a portable. Hard to beat for the $$$.
