I've been using mymemory.co.uk for years now and never been disappointed with the quality of goods/service provided. :headphones:

I really prefer firmware 3.34b. It just seems to be much more cohesive. I felt like 3.4 gave the vocals a slightly recessed quality. It surprises me that they would develop this product around a specific signature, refine it and then with the last firmware upgrade ditch it completely.

I seem to be having a small problem with the charging indicator light of the X3.

At first, the light would be red until fully charged. It then went green. Now, it seems to stay red for a huge amount of time. I sometimes have had it on charge for over 8 hours in a 2.1a output and it was still red. My portable USB charger has a smart function built in and switches itself off when it detects the device is full. When I charge the X3 from this, the charger turns itself off in around the X3s usual charging time. (about 3 hours) This shows that the X3 is actually still charging fine.

Every charger I charge the X3 with, if I unplug it or turn it off and on again, the light tends to come green if it has been on charge for 2 - 3 hours. It is just strange that I can have it on charge for simply hours and it stays red and then just by a simple switch off and on form what I am charging it with sorts it out and goes green to indicate it is full.

This isn't always the case because often when I leave it on overnight, it tends to be green by then no matter what I plug it into.

I tend to only charge the X3 from when the battery is nearly flat.

Does anyone else have this issue?

The micro USB port seems to be going out on my unit. How would I get it fixed? Send FiiO an email?

Just installed the latest/final firmware update and noticed one feature was support for multichannel playback.  I've searched this forum for info but could only find my original post/question from several months back post #14959 where I was essentially told "no".
But with the latest firmware info, perhaps it now can?

Does anyone have any info on this and if it can play multichannel, which format does it play?

Thanks!!

The X3 will play multichannel WAV files as mixed-down stereo. That's probably what you read.

I tried a few, just to confirm that it will play them. Most multichannel mixdowns don't sound very good in stereo, so it's just a convenience, not that useful.

Cross posting from: http://www.head-fi.org/t/796461/fiio-x3-1st-gen-battery-exhausted-shutting-down#post_12292717

My x3 1st gen has stopped turning on. If I charge it the led is always
green, but upon turning it on, the device says "battery exhausted shutting down" and
shuts off instantly.

I bought it on 15 Nov 2014 so it's not that old and I want to keep using it!
Different USB cables and chargers yield the same result.

Is there any way to fix this?

Update:

I think I found the culprit; I noticed that if I disconnect the line out and leave the player as it is without turning it off, sometimes it freezes and becomes unresponsive.

It must have been like that in my car overnight. Then I found it discharged yesterday.
I managed to get a little bit of trickle charge in by continuing to turn it on, letting it alert me about the battery ,and turn off automatically. Even if the LED was showing green.

After about 15 minutes of that it started charging, red LED. I'm listening to it right now.

Any idea?

Good point. They are on holidays now, but I'll fire one off and wait for the reply. Can't buy one right now anyways, damn disability checks.

To me, they are still way too pricey. They are not yet double the capacity of 128gb cards and they seem to be over 3 times the price. However, I have recently found a 128gb card that works out better value than most decent branded 64gb cards.

The Integral 128gb card is available for £24. My Phillips 64gb card was around £16. The 200gb Sandisk card is £84.99 on amazon.co.uk and not much cheaper elsewhere. Each time I double the capacity of the card, I will pay a maximum of double what I did for a card half the size. I reckon it would be quite some time before I get this sandisk card. That is if I ever do. I am just waiting for the Integral 128gb card to come down in price a bit.
