Etymotic HF5 Tips
Been using cut tri-flanges, but I cut off the largest flange and put the phones pretty far in. Also use Monster foams from the gel/foam kit on Amazon. Also tried making DIY custom tips (just youtube "custom ear tips putty"). They sealed great, but the bass disappeared! I think I made them too...- jaw2ek

digiZoid ZO Contest: "What does music mean to you?"
Music is a particular form of self-expression. When I find a piece of music that says something to me, I feel renewed, transformed, better. The kind of internal excitement generated by such "found" music just cannot be had elsewhere. It is a very personal euphoric experience. I think that very...- jaw2ek

Sugru for custom fix earphone?
I haven't, but have always wanted to try soft silicone over acrylic. I have a couple of old armature phones that I've wanted to build into a custom. This could very well be the solution for me. Thanks.- jaw2ek

How Many Backup IEM's do you guys have that you use regularly?
I have TF10s in my bedside unit. I do not use these nearly as often as my RE0s and my M6s. Mostly because I tend to listen to music on the go. What I really miss on the go is my amp. I havr a portable that I got sick of lugging around, so I upgraded the opamp and pieced together a decent unit...- jaw2ek

Do the comply foams with wax guards change the sound?
I have never used the Tx series. However, I have used T400s and 500s. I am currently using the S series on my IEMs, especially my RE0. These are not as soft, nor bounce back as quickly. They have a similar smoothing effect on the RE0s, but I don't think it's as pronounced. I like them a lot.- jaw2ek

How's Etymotic's customer service? My MC5s broke!
Had a good experience when I returned my HF5s for a broken shaft. The second time it broke I gave up on etymotic.- jaw2ek

Sleep-friendly IEM?
I've had my RE0s for well over a year (nov 09) and often use them for sleeping. However, I usually pull them out during the night and slip them into the drawer of my night table, where I also keep my DAP. BTW, I like Meelectronics M6 for sleeping as well.- jaw2ek

What amp to get for the Ultimate Ear Triple Fi.10
Quote: Got my TF10s in last year's discount, direct from Logitech. I gave up on my cmoyBB for a while because the SQ hardly justified lugging it around. Got what I paid for, I guess. Then, I decided to keep it by my bed and started trying different opamps. In the meantime, I also got...- jaw2ek

Best tips for MEElec M6?
I use comply T500 off of my triple-fis. I have to use a small bit of double sticky tape to keep them on, but they work well. Really tame some of the harshness- jaw2ek

The Etymotics HF5 Thread
I always found that ety foams provide the best sq out of the HF5 (vs other foam), but are not very comfortable. Never did try shure black, though. My HF5s broke for the second time earlier this year and I gave up on them. (I have a project in mind for them, if I every have free time.)- jaw2ek

Adding drivers to a single driver iem.
Quote: Absolutly true. However, I don't use the Klipsch any more and my HF5 are broken out of warranty. Before you say call Etymotic anyway, this is my second broken pair (both had the sound tube fall apart). I am considering this mostly as a fun experiment for myself. Will it work...- jaw2ek

James444's IEM giveaway thread (competition has ended - see post #344 and #354 for winners!)
Quote: I have always tended toward bass-light phones: my main-stays having been HF5 and RE0, so my first choice would probably be the ATH-CK100. Always wanted to try AT. However, I also got one one those $99 TF-10, which have helped me appreciate bass more, although I usually EQ out the...- jaw2ek

Klipsch Custom 2 AND Etymotic HF5. Can it be done?
I have yet to contact anyone to see if they will actually do this, but... I want to combine 2 iems, an Etymotic hf5 and a Klipsch Custom 2 into one shell. The sound tube of my hf5 has broken for the second time, I really think this would work well. It would be my first custom mold...- jaw2ek

Ety MC5
Quote: I have had 2 pair HF5 break in 18 months, the first within 6 weeks. Ety CS was great about replacing the first pair. My first pair broke similarly to this one, but I was able to fit it back together. Both pair had the sound tube break off at the end in small pieces. Personally...- jaw2ek

Static out of my E1
Update: Last night, I tried a couple of other things: 1) I downgraded the Apple firmware 1.3 --> 1.2.1. Static still there. 2) I reloaded Rockbox (had done a full restore last week). Lo and behold, the line out works! The E1 remote functions did not work, but I expected this. No big...- jaw2ek
