Wanting to expand musical taste and repetoire and experience! Reccommendations??
Something I did recently, was go to the "Last 5 albums you bought recently" thread, went through about 10-15 pages, and looked at what everybody put down. When I saw somebody that had an album I liked or had, I wrote down the others, then I sampled them online. There was a lot of stuff I didn't... -

Wanna get into 311
Transistor, Soundsystem, From Chaos, and Evolver are, imo, their best albums. I'll be honest in that I haven't listened much to the other albums, just long enough to decide I don't like them, but I listened to those four religously for the longest time, and I promise they won't disappoint. -
Hip-Hop / Funk
I've been in sort of a music rutt lately, not really listening to anything new. Hip-hop funk is always something that I've wanted to get into, but not sure where to start. Now there's some stuff I like, and a lot I don't. I feel (and this is just IMO), that a lot of stuff is just like this... -
"Life" on Mars
Lol, my first impression when I saw that was it looked very similar to that famous Bigfoot picture, where he's walking in the woods, kinda looking at the camera.- tator

A sad generation.

iPod Classic... DAC and output stage info from Vinnie of RWA
Vinnie, Am I to understand that you are comparing the stock 6G w/o Vcap dock, to a 5.5g iMod with the Vcap dock? If so, isn't this a little unfair since the Vcap dock will boost the sound quality of the iMod even more? How do the two compare without the Vcap dock in the equation (ie. just...- tator

the IPOD RUMORS thread [Updated to the EXTREME]
I went to my local BB store to buy a new 80gb ipod, and all but one of the stores in the whole city were sold out, with no new ones on backorder. I can't imagine a huge store like BB not having iPods in stock, so I wouldn't be surprised if a new model came out in the next few months.- tator

New cartridge?
Thanks for all the comments. I think hciman77 probably nailed it. I've only ever heard CD's so I'm probably expecting too much from LP's. But I am enjoying it. Before I started playing records, I couldn't stop obsessing over whether or not my new amp and speakers sounded right, but as soon as I...- tator

New cartridge?
Well I finally got my TT rig setup. Restored Dual 1229Q -> Marantz 2270. I bought the TT off eBay, and it came with a Shure V15 III cartridge. I've been playing records for a couple days now, and while they sound good, I can't help feeling that it sounds a little flat. This may be due to the age...- tator

Question About Aquarium Catfish
I don't know if that is technically a catfish. Those kind of fish, generally called "algae-eaters", are plecos, and there a whole seperate group of fish, but they may be related to catfish, who knows. If it's just one of the regular brown ones you get at any fish store, than yea, he might be OK...- tator

Best vintage Marantz receivers?
Well I don't really have a lot of experience with amps/receivers, but I just nabbed a 2270 from a guy locally. Paid less than $200 compared to the $300-400 they can go for on eBay. All the things that are said about this thing are true. It sounds amazing. I hooked it up to some small B&W...- tator

Need amp advice
I'm trying to get into vinyl, but I'm on a tight budget, so I have a few questions. I've already decided on the sl-1200, but for the amp, I'm not so sure. Originally I was planning on getting a nice vintage Pioneer, Marantz, Yamaha, etc. amp from eBay, or from a thriftstore. I did manage to find...- tator

Plane Vs Conveyor Belt
OK I reread the question. I guess if the belt matches the absolute speed of the plane, then the question is pointless. So now that I understand the question, then yes, I think it would take off, and as others have stated, the wheels would be spinning way, way faster than they were meant to.- tator

Plane Vs Conveyor Belt
Planes don't take off from thrust alone. The thrust pushes the plane forward, which causes air to go over/under the wings, giving it lift. If the conveyor matches the speed of the plane, so that it remains stationary, then the plane will never take off. If it did, I'm sure the Navy/Airforce...- tator
