Purchased new around a year ago. Earpads have some wear as expected - slap in some Lawtons and you are good to go. I haven't used this for a few months since I prefer speakers now, and it's getting hot around here. Price includes PP fees and shipping to US48.

Review by 'LinkPro' on item 'Sennheiser HD 599 Open Back Headphone'

(copy and pasted from my review on reddit) With the HD 58x being around the same $160-170 price bracket, there isn't a lot of love for the 599, which is kind of sad to me seeing how successful the 598 was. So I pulled the trigger on one of these bad boys and saw for myself how it stacks up in...

Since the Feb 2 update the music app has sorted my music in alphabet instead of track number. Anyway to change that?

    Denon AH-7200

That is my review. I was going by the face that the box says Made in China. I do know that the cable is made in Japan, but had no idea about the drivers. Thanks for clearing that up.   As of now I still stand by my review for the most part. The more time I spend with the TH900 the more I...

    Denon AH-7200

Find my comparison a few pages back.   TLDR; TH900 is worse than D7200 at just about everything except bass.

IF you get a proper seal, sound leakage is there but not very distracting. Just tested it at listening level.

    Denon AH-7200

If anyone is trying to decide on the D7200, think about how much the D7000 with less sub-bass rumble, mid-bass bleed, more midrange presence and treble control is worth to you.    Quite a shame they blew it on the fit and comfort this time around when they finally got the sound (IMO) right.

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

I don't own an Elear myself, but most people with newer pairs say that the problem has been fixed.

    Denon AH-7200

I may be wrong here but the D7200 is potentially tuned similarly to a D5000/7000 with Lawton mods. From what I remember about the D5000, it had too much mid-bass. The D7000 fixed that a little, the D7100 too much and the D7200 IMO just right.     In fact, "just right" is about correct on how...

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread

@thatonenoob Thanks, that was pretty much what I thought. Lots of mods have been done to it so I assume that's one of them. The guy did say that his shop has every part avaiable except the earcups so I'm not too worried.

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread

Just got a used pair yesterday. The earcups swivel 360 degrees and can lie flat on a table. Is it normal or some kind of black magic? My old D7000 definitely didn't do that.

    Denon AH-7200

So as promised I've got the TH900 in, albeit a little delayed. Shootout coming very soon. The TH900 is a used pair so I won't be doing any real burn in. It does have new Denon-style earpads on it instead of round Fostex ones.    P/S: The guy who sold it to me is friends with the most prominent...

    TEAC UD-301

Just spent some time setting my Foobar2k to do DSD. ASIO was required to do it.    I find that if Foobar is opened and music is playing OR on pause (not completely stopped), the TEAC will operate in ASIO - only one program may output sound at a time. If I paused a song in Foobar and go to a...

    TEAC UD-301

The TEAC has a button on the front that does input switching (USB/Coax/Optical) so I think you can do that just fine. I really don't know much about ASIO outside of recording work.

    Denon AH-7200

Having heard D5000. D7000 and TH600 as my own headphones, I wouldn't consider their differences drastic, no. The most obvious difference was from the Denons to the Fostex as the TH600 had pretty hot treble and made sibilance more apparent in some tracks. Otherwise it's the same phenomenal...

So the technology is the same, meaning I am not wrong. The takeaway is don't expect a drastic difference.

    TEAC UD-301

I have a Focusrite Scarlett Solo, the first unit distorted so badly when recording I had to get an exchange. Second unit does it too but less. No way to fix it other than unplugging. Maybe a Focusrite thing.     Also ASIO tends to not play nice with multiple apps IIRC.    Can't speak for the...

    TEAC UD-301

^ No you will not need another sound card for anything, just set the TEAC as the default playback device in Windows, for some games you will have to go in settings and select it as your output, that's it. I've been using it for everything (foobar, WMP, youtube, games) and had no problems with...

    Denon AH-7200

I am diverting funds to some other projects so the 900 will have to wait for now. I do want it in my collection some day, though.   Yes. the D7100 and D7200 use the same driver, or at least the same driver technology (50mm Free Edge). Denon seems pretty proud of their driver after all. What...

    Denon AH-7200

I ran the D7100, T1 and TH600 all with the Fostex HP-A8. For the record I also had the D600 and prefered that to the 7100.

    Denon AH-7200

I get what you mean about the lack of warmth. IMO the D7100 was where they overdid cutting mid-bass and the headphone ended up sounding dry and "incoherent", i.e. there was no smooth transition from bass to midrange. With the D7200 I too hope for a D7000 reborn (which so far is close enough)...

    TEAC UD-301

Just got this plugged in. First impressions: really clean and neutral DAC which seems like the case with most Japanese DACs at this price point. Has no problems bringing out the best of my Denon AH-D̃7200. It is also capable of driving my HD800 to a good listening level, however the sound is...

    Denon AH-7200

Specs wise they are slightly less efficient than D7000 - 105 vs. 108 dB/mW. Impedance is the same at 25 ohm. Very easy to drive volume-wise - my Teac UD-301 has no problems with it using the headphone output.
