    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Listening to my Mahogany TH-X00 on my HTC 10 now. Sounds fantastic, and plenty loud at just over half volume. I'm not using Boomsound, because that always just seems to make it more bassy, and these are plenty bassy enough for me already. Maybe they'd sound better with an amp and a DAC, and I'd...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

See, I read this a lot, but my Mahogany TH-X00s just arrived and I don't feel like isolate particularly poorly. Someone sitting next to me didn't hear any noticeable noise when I was playing tracks at a "any louder would hurt" volume. I can hear outside noises maybe a little bit more than with...

    Any idea what this does?

My first thought is that it probably has some sort of amplifier component, given that they say it makes music louder. It'd be easy for them to throw in some sort of V-shaped equalizer as well to make whatever they're plugged into sound more "fun." I haven't messed with compression so I don't...

Rising cost of "audiophile" equipment and importance of bias/blind testing

I joined head-fi six years ago, but I tend to only come by for a few weeks every 2-3 years when I decide I want to buy new headphones. This time, it feels a bit different. 90% of the content on the main discussion forums is in megathreads for every different product, and 90% of the content of...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Been looking for a new pair of headphones to complement my current rig (ATH-M50 and 1964 V6 CIEMs), and am considering taking the plunge and joining the Ebony drop. I don't have any source/DAC/amp other than my phone, the HTC 10, which for what its worth sounds much better and more powerful than...

    Best Smartphone for audiophile

So I'm looking to get a new smartphone and would like something that will work as a good DAP since my DX50 seems to be dead. How do the HTC 10 and the LG V10 compare? I also briefly looked at the Galaxy S7 but heard bad things about its sound. Just looking for something with good clean sound and...

    1964 Ears

After ordering my V6's back on Black Friday and having to wait over a month before I could get usable impression, they've finally shipped today! Very excited to get my hands on my first set of truly high-end headphones. :D

    1964 Ears

Ordered the V6 back on Black Friday, but I won't be able to get impressions for at least another week, sadly. The wait's gonna be brutal. Here's the design I ended up going with - props to anyone who gets the (very, very nerdy) reference.:D Can't wait to hear them.

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Picked one up with 3 left, thanks! Hoping it'll be a significant upgrade over the Clip+ I've been using for years. There's still one left if anyone's interested (this is the lowest price they've reached according to camelcamelcamel!).

    Sennheiser Amperior Impressions Thread

Well, I've ordered the Amperior for $140 from a third-party Amazon retailer and they should arrive sometime next week. Looking forward to comparing them to the M50s, and hoping for a significant step in the right direction based on what I've read about them. Looking for a new DAP to drive them...

    Sennheiser Amperior Impressions Thread

Hello Amperior owners! I'm thinking of purchasing the Amperior with the Amazon $150 deal, as I suspect the cord on my M50s will not hold up much longer, and they're a bit large for portable use. I'm wondering - would these generally be considered as a significant upgrade over the M50s, in terms...

    1964 Ears

Alright, thanks for the information, I must have missed that discussion earlier in the thread. That's too bad, 1964 has always been known as a company with great value for the money compared to other CIEM makers. If they're getting tons of orders, I suppose it makes sense to increase prices, but...

Where did you hear that they are increasing their prices? If that's true I need to get to ordering my CIEMS soon, thanks for the heads up!

Since everyone else is doing it.... Here's what I've got designed. Props to the math nerds who get it. :D Hoping to find time to schedule an audiologist appointment soon, so I can place my order for the V6 when I have the funds in order!

    Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)

ljokerl, I'm trying to decide on a CIEM as an upgrade to my Brainwavz B2 (or DBA-02 that you've reviewed, as it's essentially the same thing). I'd like something with a similar signature, but with a bit more authority in the lower register. I probably can't spend the money for a TOTL like the...

    DX90. 2X Sabre,1st page: Downloads, info&inst. . ! Lurker0 FW Mod link 1st page !!. .NEW FW! 2.3.0 . . . . .

Wow, that's a fair bit cheaper than any other place I've seen. It's very tempting to pick one up at that price. I would be concerned about fakes coming from China - you're definitely confident yours is legit? For that matter, do DX90 fakes even exist? I haven't heard anything about any fakes...

    1964 EARS V6 Thread

Hi Eric, I was wondering if you ever did a full review of the V6? I haven't been able to find anything other than your initial impressions on this thread or the main 1964 Ears thread. I'm thinking that the V6 is the best next step for me, but I'd love to read more impressions and reviews! Thanks! :)

    1964 Ears

Thanks, it's certainly reassuring to hear that the step up is worth it! Hopefully I'll be ready to make that leap soon - glad to hear it's worked out so well for you. Would definitely still be interested in hearing opinions of those who've heard the DX50 and the V6 together. I've considered the...

    1964 Ears

Thinking of making my first foray into the world of true high-end audio with the V6, and would probably purchase an iBasso DX50 to go along with it. Currently using a Sansa Clip+ with the Brainwavz B2, which I enjoy a lot, and M50s - so this would be a pretty huge step up for me and I'm a little...

Review: VSonic GR07 - Dynamic Monitors? Check!

How would you compare this to the CK10? Was thinking about buying the CK10 but now I'm wondering if these would be a better option at a lower price. How similar/different are they?

    Final Audio Design Announces Piano Forte VIII ($940), IX ($1180), X-CC ($2650), & X-G

Wait... these don't use silicone or foam tips? You just stick the metal in your ear? That's what I understand from that at least, seems pretty uncomfortable. A $2500 dynamic universal is a bit... completely insane. Also, for that price, I'd think you'd get some sort of strain relief.
