FiiO's new Q1 portable DAC-amp: Let's drink to "Happy Listening"!
Just thought I'd chime in with my impressions of this amp/dac. I've been using it this past week with my DT-1770's and I've found the pairing to be excellent. Granted I haven't another amp at the moment to compare it to. For the money it's quite amazing IMO.- Jingo Lingo

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
I've just taken delivery of some DT 1770's. It's early days but I have to say I'm extremely impressed. I've been away from the head-fi scene for a few years and I was after a new pair of closed cans. I auditioned the PM-3 and really liked it but I thought the bass was lacking a little bit in...- Jingo Lingo

Finally; NEW Massive Attack album "Heligoland" coming in Feb:
I felt pretty let down by this album. I love all of M.A's stuff including the oft criticized 100th Window but this album really doesnt stand up to their other work. A few good songs like Pray for rain but overall it sounds, i dont know, rushed? No where near the beautiful texture and complexity...- Jingo Lingo

The Official Cigar Thread
I just smoked a Quintero Panatelas. Nice smoke, one of my favorites from the limited amount of cigars I've smoked. I'm just getting into cigars and I'm quite shocked by how much more cigars cost in Australia compared to the USA. About 3x more expensive here. I'm still searching for an affordable...- Jingo Lingo

Mid Hi-fi setup - funds allocation between HF/Amp/Source
I'd spend the majority of your money on an awesome pair of headphones, or a couple of good pairs that you enjoy. Spending only 1/4 of your budget on headphones is, in my opinion, quite daft. But I'm of the opinion that all DAC's sound the same and well designed SS amplifiers shouldn't sound...- Jingo Lingo

has anyone tried k701s with presonus hp4
I don't think you'd need another amp. Just try it with the 701's and see how she goes. I don't own the 701's by I have a HP4 in the mail somewhere that I'm planing on using with my Dt 150's and HF-2's, when they arrive. I'll post some impressions when I get it.- Jingo Lingo

Is any point adding DacMagic/V-Dac on Corda Cantate for HD650?
I'd try and pick up a used one and decide for yourself if it's worth it. You can always flip it here for not much loss.- Jingo Lingo

Question about amps

Upper midrange peakiness in Audio-Technica 'phones

Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!
I just received my DT 150's. I've had about 2hrs with them. My impressions so far: The tonal balance on these are perfect. The bass reaches as deep as I've heard in a pair of headphones. It's also wonderfully textured with nice impact. Vocal's sound great, cymbals and electric guitars...- Jingo Lingo

Upper midrange peakiness in Audio-Technica 'phones
The W5000 was the most fatiguing headphone I've owned, I couldn't listen to it for more than 30 min at a time. I can't be sure why but it was most likely due to the peak in the upper mids. They fit perfectly and I had a great seal so that was not the issue. Other than that they sounded...- Jingo Lingo
