Sennheiser PX100-II
I've had a number of PX-100s die on me - it's always the plug end of the wire. When one went, I'd just buy another one. Eventually, I had several lying around and I decided to spend the money on soldering equipment and plugs instead. I can report that fixing a PX-100 is very easy, and I...- Xplo

Looking for decent USB DAC under $150
So, sorry to ask a question that's probably been asked and answered a zillion times on here, but: My AP192 card is apparently dead. Made sure the driver was current, ran through all the software and hardware troubleshooting, and now M-Audio's suggesting I sent it in for testing and...- Xplo

I scanned through that forum, and found no such thing. If it's still available, could you give me a link, or the name of the thread? -
Looking for cheap, tiny extension
My daily portable setup consists of an iPod and a Sennheiser PX100. Simple enough.. but over the course of the day, the iPod shifts around in my pocket a bit, and sometimes the cable gets flexed pretty severely.. enough that after a while I get recurring audio problems (dropped channels and...- Xplo

Well, now, hang on. Let's be fair. He has a point. Your own ears matter most. There are people who like McDonald's hamburgers, and there are people who get sexual gratification from smearing feces on themselves. Surely, there are people who genuinely like the sound of a Bose Triport, no...- Xplo

bose triport headphones and alternatives
I have heard the Bose Triports. Soft highs; dull, lifeless, recessed mids. Average resolution and speed for cheap phones, I think. Didn't get enough time to analyze the bass, it had noticible impact but I have no idea about quality. Very comfortable and lightweight, though likely to make the...- Xplo

Muddy mids on 880 - HiFi+ Review...
fewtch... I've never auditioned the 650, and can't possibly compare it to the 880, except to say that the 880 is not lacking in clarity or resolution, IMO. You may very well be right in everything you say. But, you must realize that you are an 880 fanboy.- Xplo

what is the most expensive headphone available?
I have some unimpressive full-sized Koss headphones I got as a gift a few years ago. They're mostly unused. I'll sell 'em to you for $68,000.- Xplo

Which headphones are kings of "WOW" factor?
Naah, you guys are all out of touch with what the average non-audiophile is impressed by. Here's how you do it. 1. Get something that produces a lot of bumpin' bass, like a Beyer 770. 2. Get an amp with plenty of power to drive your chosen headphones. Doesn't matter which one, really. 3...- Xplo

Just got DT880! (thoughts, questions)
I think he meant to say that the V6 is good for picking out details. I don't think the V6 resolves things as finely or naturally as the 880 does, but the grainy highs really do pick out the details it DOES resolve. If I were mastering an album, I'd grab a V6 first. My ears are adjusting to...- Xplo

Just got DT880! (thoughts, questions)
Merry Xmas to me I'm upgrading from a Sennheiser HD-280. I wanted something with a similar tonal balance, only "better"; as much as I liked the Senns, I felt that they lacked a certain energy, and that occasionally the music had a certain dynamism that the phones implied, but could not...- Xplo

Anyone else with HD280 Pro durability issues?
I had the same problem with my 280, so I sent them to Sennheiser under warranty. They sent me a new pair.. and the same thing happened! Those guys seriously need to redesign the headband, or start making it out of aluminum or something. But until then I've found a distinctly "lo-fi" solution...- Xplo

HD280 -> DT880?
For a while now I've been toying with the idea of a headphone upgrade.. but, to what headphone? I've been using a Sennheiser HD280 for a while now, and I'm more or less happy with its tone.. but it occasionally produces an irritating gritty noise with certain upper-mids (I don't know if this is...- Xplo
