This thread is hilarious.
Btw, you can enjoy classical AND rap...
my taste is varied but I'm sorry I do draw the line at rap. Just my age!

So it's a battle of classical freaks versus the modern-age freaks. This will not go down well.

at the end the winner will be CLASSICAL![]()
63 pages on "why the Beats hate"? I guess it's pretty simple, the products aren't good, especially for the prices. Booming bass without good definition is not hard to do. They sound very dark and colored and the NC causes some evil hiss. Build quality is sub-par too, I wonder how much it costs to make them? They do look nice, but that's pretty much it.
Stating the obvious, yes.
EDIT: This has nothing to do with genres, there are some great bassy hp's out there for hip-hop etc. I admit, my test with the new beats ended when I heard that high-pitched hiss...
Oh no... GET REAL
Just some of the great headphones you can get for similar money to these 'excellent' Solo 2s (in the UK/Europe) some of which might have that BASS so beloved of the 'Beats are rubbish deniers'
Focal Spirit one S
Focal Spirit Pro
Beyer T51
NAD P30
B&O H2
Sennheiser HD25 Aluminium
I'm all honesty which would you rather have on your noggin.
NB something I've been keeping quiet, a guilty secret: I have actually tried the solos 2 (when no one was looking) and their only outstanding feature was their dire build quality for the price.
Yep!In audiophile universe:
For any other brand of headphone: I don't like this particular sound signature, so this headphone isn't for me.
For Beats: I don't like the Beats sound signature, therefore, Beats is garbage.
Guess you and Tyll differ -- what makes this hobby fun imo. Just sayin' that many highly regarded reviewers (and open-minded Head-Fiers) have said similarly good things about the Solo 2's after giving them a listen. BTW, they are cheaper (even at $199 retail) than the cans you mentioned -- except for the H2's
The problem is that many folks on Head-Fi make statements (i.e. Beats Suck) about entire product lines with little or no actual listening experience with the cans that they're trashing...which adds little or no value to the conversation.
Not a Beats fanboy either as you can see from the equipment in my signature. FWIW, my Basshead-ish cans right now are D600, DT770, XBR950BT, and WS55's; still thinking about getting the SZ2000/1000's
Woah Nellie! Just checked Amazon...Beats Solo 2's for $139.99 with Free Shipping. Get them while they're HOT!![]()

Ah the thing is the Beats is not just a headphone.
Some people might say they are a symbol of the tasteless, talentless and 'celebrity' obsessed world we live in. Not me mind they're just not my cup of tea.
Ahhh, now we're getting somewhere. Didn't realize I had to parse with that granularity; will have my barrister's bifocals and wig on hence forth! That's why I said UK & Europe. based on current Amazon prices only Spirit Pro is significantly more expensive but it has recently been cheaper ie around £140. The T51 is about 90p more. The HD25 Aluminium can be bought cheaper elsewhere. Just some similarly priced alternatives for the none heard-followers/ fashion victims to consider.
