Don't be let down yet.  There is also the Hackintosh approach.  Here are the best 2012 laptops for such activity: http://www.macbreaker.com/2012/09/best-hackintosh-laptops-2012-mountain-lion.html

Not exactly a MacBook but close, and can be done for well under half the cost.

Wayne, you should be ashamed pimping out all this hackintosh when there is so much apple coolaide that stills needs to be drank.

Santa needs to bring me a new power supply for my Millett MOSFET Max which I managed to fry by plugging it into my wi-fi router (same plug size!). I'm in freakin Korea and it's a pain to find a suitable replacement. My T-50RPs just aren't the same being run off of my laptop or even out of the uDac. Oops!

A 256GB SSD drive

Why do you need such a large SSD? I have a 120GB Samsung 830 and I've never even come close to filling it because I have a 3TB Seagate external drive. Get a smaller one (but not a really small one, they have weaker performance), and use the money saved to get a big ol' mechanical drive.

I already have a 60GB Sata 3 SSD for my Os drive, the 240GB one is for my games drives as I switching over from the 500GB Mechanical drive that I have my games on.  I do not need a 1TB Hard drive, I was barely using 2x 500GB in a Raid-0 setup, which I undid and took a hard drive out.    a 240GB SSD is enough for the amount of games i have installed with room for more if I decide to buy any more or install more.

The one of the 500GB's will be used for External Storage with a hard drive cage and the other 500GB will go into another computer.

i got my brother a samsung 830 256gb ssd for christmas. after he opened it today, he didn't ask the size or anything, just said "cool, is this external?"

maybe i should have given it to you, you seem to appreciate hard drives.

A 480 or 512 GB SSD as my main drive. The HE-400s and Denon 2000s. A better and larger desk. Oh, and another car since I've been without one for 3 months because my neighbor ran into mine and it got totalled out by the insurance.
