He's just trying to stay objective. He isn't ignoring the M-100. He just wants to concentrate on the neutral reviews and comments, and avoid the noise.

I agree as well. Lets see what multiple reviewers have to say.

Apologies if I missed it somewhere else in the thread or in another thread, but when is the actual release date for these? As in, on what day can I give someone money to have them sent to my home?

Of course. I wont argue if they sound bad, the reason I come out as a fanboy of V-Moda is because I love my m80's so much. I disapprove of the LP and LP2's, I'm not very fond of their IE's either.

Quoted for truth. I plan on being unbias as possible for my review/comparison. As much as I like seeing support for a brand, it can get too much at times. It's best to hear the hard truth from someone neutral and without a prior opinion. As for me, I've never owned a V-MODA before, and a big reason of why I ordered a VTF-100 was because they have a great test drive policy.

If this isn't the headphone for me, I will say why, leave it at that, and move on to the next headphone that sounds good. It's the best way to see what works.

Me too. Even if I like Val, and the way he runs V-MODA, I'm going to write an honest, down-to-earth review with no fanboy bias.

Yea same, I always write exactly what I think about a headphone, if I think it sounds bad in some aspects I will definitely mention it and not try to cover it and if headphone sounds poor it ends up being sold after roughly a week. I was pretty harsh on the Crossfade LP2 but perhaps judged it a little too fast though but I burned it in for roughly 25 hrs and it was recommended to do 20hrs+.

Things that won't be missed by my ears if it's an issue:

- Resonance issues anywhere in the FR range
- Imaging and soundstage issues
- Excess reverb ("wet" sounding) or too crisp/"dry" sounding?
- Bass definition (how textured/controlled etc)?
- Graininess
- Excessive peaks & dips

I think the VAMP is a cool product, but the recent iPhone design changes underscore a major flaw in the concept.  While the connector isn't likely to change in the near future, the physical body of the phone could change every year.  There is no way I would spend $600 on an a portable amp that may be rendered useless within 12-18 months.  If I were Val, I would be considering alternative ways to make that happen.

According to Val, he made it because he wanted to use it, not necessarily because it would be in high demand. It's a luxury audiophile item that some people are willing to buy. I would imagine that he will find ways to roll with all the iPhone changes.

That´s right. And besides that, he´s thinking about a design that would shape even android smartphones. It´s going to be a very interesting gadget. Can´t wait!!

Need is a strong word. May I politely recommend a read of this thread, although it applies to PM's, the concept is still quite applicable :-

Please note to the audiences here that it's not my intent to hold such reviews ransom. There are valid reasons of which time will reveal. Most of you have been patient for so long, just hold on a little longer.
Meanwhile, it seems I'm not the only consumer who's got access to the M100. If audiences here live in Tokyo, it seems e-earphone have their personalized ones on display (Shadow with custom plates, mine's on the left). The don't sell them yet, these are demos next to the Go-DAP X's :-

Hi Guys...

New Here... Hello World and Head-Fi.

Now, I dont think I'd call myself an audiophile by any means, I would however call myself a connoisseur of sorts. I am forever looking for the best my money can buy, whether it is $20 or $20000. I will always look to find the best overall package, this is very often quite subjective... How I feel about what I am buying. Having said that. I am in the market to replace my Sennheiser CX300II in-ears with circumaural HPs. I think I have found them... I say think because we have no real reviews yet (waiting with baited breath).

I read somthing in this thread from Val. Now I have known of v-moda for some time, but not what the company stands for, what Val stands for. Our lives may be worlds apart (He is a DJ in the US, I am an IT specialist in South Africa, he is an entrepreneur, I am a techie), but something that struck a chord with me. Val appears to make/design/have made products he wants to use, not what he thinks will make money. He appears to make something that will make him feel happy about and in so doing, make products with a very old school ideal. Products built to last. Therefore I have found a brand I would like to support...

Ok, so, enough blabbering about how much I love Val... No Val, I do NOT love you, I do like what I hear about you company... Quite frankly, you are not quite my type... I am more a boobs and bum guy myself...
biggrin.gif

Now these M-100 HPs, are they going to be available in South Africa? Or am I going to have to pull manouvers to get them here?

When do we expect availability?

I have one question that does not apear to be asked often or dealt with very much... how private is private? I want these to be able to use on a plane, in a car with other passengers (we have little public transport but sometimes catch a ride with friends for long distance drives). If I am lying in bed next to the wife, jamming to some Linkin Park, am I going to disturb the wife?

Thank you
Chris

Wait, let me get this straight. You're a connoisseur of audio, you don't care if the cost is $20 to $20,000, but you want these as an upgrade to $40 in ear monitors??? You're FUNNY!!! :p

He said connoisseur of "sorts", not audio. What he meant was he likes to buy things that are value for money.

PM-ed. BTW, if there are readers in Osaka, I found out that the e-earphone branch in Osaka also has a pair of M-100's on the shelf as demos.
