Hi,

Just got myself a Huawei P40 Pro+ with EMUI 12. As you know, there are no Google services on this devices but there is a go around with Gspace. I was able to install almost all the apps I need. Even UAPP. But when I press the Play button, it says that it can't play through USB because licence can't be verified. Of course I am a full option paid customer of this app. Is there something I can do about this? Thanks.
Hi,
I have a P50 Pro. I was able to install and use UAPP using Ourplay method. With Gspace wasn't able

Hi, hope my question is not too dumb. I use UAPP on my Android 9 DAP to access my audio collection located on two laptops in my home network; one Windows 8.1, one Linux. I do this via Samba from UAPP. The point is: While I get the network shares (more precisely, a directory underneath the one that is being shared from the Windows or Linux machines, resp.) to connect and open using Samba V1 in UAPP, I unfortunately cannot get that to work with Samba V2/V3. However, I‘d like to enforce Samba V2/V3 for security and speed reasons.

Any ideas?

I can access these shares perfectly well from Total Commander on my Android 9 DAP using Samba V2 or V3.

In Total Commander, I connect to a subdirectory of a defined network share via
smb://192.168.178.nnn/MyShareName/Music/Lossless/
with appropriate user credentials. Works both for Windows and Linux network shares, and for any Samba version including V3 in particular.

However, I am stuck with what I should enter into the UAPP network media server definitions.
- For Samba V1, I enter the same share location as given above. I have to finish that smb://…/ statement with TWO //, since one gets discarded at the end when pressing OK. Maybe a bug in UAPP? But it works.
- However, I find no way to define a Samba V2/V3 share. I tried the obvious one of
smb://192.168.178.nnn
MyShareName/Music/Lossless/
for the separate server and share names, but it doesn‘t work.

How am I supposed to define the network location for Samba V2/V3? What am I missing? What‘s going wrong? Since I can connect in Total Commander via Samba V3, I am sure my Windows and Linux installations should be fine.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hey folks, anyone else that has an N8ii seem to notice the warring pop up before you are about to close the app never seems to work?

I am constantly shutting off music when i just want to return to the menu. Many versions of UAPP since the N8ii came out and I have toggled and re-toggled the setting to do this over and over. It works fine on the N6ii dap and others I've owned. Is it an Android version issue perhaps?

I you don't have an username&password on server then you need in username and password type "guest"
That‘s not the problem. Of course I have username and password for my private computers. But thanks for coming in!

My questions are:
(1) What is the correct (in the eyes of UAPP) syntax for entering server and share name (separates) in the Samba V2/V3 case?
(2) Does the Samba V2/V3 protocol work in UAPP? Being able to use it correctly in Total Commander proves that all operating systems involved (Android 9, Windows 8.1, Linux Tumbleweed) are up to the task.

You are referring to that ”Beware - Hitting escape one more time will shut the app down“? For me on my N8ii, it works like it did on the N6ii. But then, as I find this feature a good one, I never toggled its setting on/off. Maybe there’s a bug in UAPP?

Thats the one. I can't get it to work. Just shuts down w/ no warning.

Sounds like a bug in UAPP. But sorry, I won‘t toggle its setting now .. afraid to lose the warning … Just contact Davy Wentzler about it?
Good idea, lol.
I'll hit up the UAPP forums, just wanted to see if it was a me issue or widespread. Thanks.

@111MilesToGo Just a speculation, you have turned on Samba V2/V3 support on your PC right? For. normally it is off. As I remembered, configuration was straight up. Switched to WebDav since it's faster.

Thanks for coming in.

Yes, Samba V2/V3 is turned on on the PC side. Proven to be working by connecting from Total Commander on the Android DAP via both V2 and V3.

Please, what else could help?

I‘ll check out WebDAV, too.

Okay, I resolved it by some trial and error.

As a matter of fact, UAPP is a bit restricted in how to define network shares as media servers - more restricted than Total Commander, and more restricted than what I‘d like to achieve.

As laid out above, I wanted to define some subdirectory underneath the top directory of the network share as my media server. Total Commander does that for all SMB versions, UAPP does not.

For SMBv1, I could enter
smb://192.168.178.nnn/MyShareName/Music/Lossless/
in UAPP‘s Network definition dialog. It already looked suspicious that I had to enter // at the end, where the last / got discarded.

For SMBv2/v3, UAPP‘s definition dialog requests separate server and share name inputs. The server name of course is straightforward,
smb://192.168.178.nnn
The share name works ONLY when it is a pure share name like
MyShareName
but NOT when I try to enhance this to be a subdirectory like
MyShareName/Music
or anything like this. Trying to enter a subdirectory underneath MyShareName produces scrambled strings which cannot be accessed.

I‘ll bring this to the eXtreamSD Forum as a feature request.

Thanks for your help.

Using an external MQA renderer dac, do I still need to purchase the MQA add-on from UAPP for full decoding?

If it is a renderer rather than a full decoder, you will need the purchased add-on.
