Does anyone know if there are plans to include an album art grabber of some sort in the future? A lot of my albums aren't displaying the art. It seems other services have this option.

It's forbidden by Google:
https://play.google.com/about/ip-impersonation/ip/unauthorized-copyright

and before you answer: because other apps do it, doesn't make it right or legal

Wow, as a paying user simply asking about a possible future feature on a program I enjoy using, I wasn't expecting this type of aggressive, accusatory, moral shaming response.

Since you've now publicly called out apps such as PowerAmp on moral grounds (which Google allows to remain on their service), does that mean users of PowerAmp are also immoral for enabling/encouraging PowerAmp to engage in immoral behavior?

On a side note, I'd love to see a display option for the file extension on files if possible, such as MP3 or AAC or FLAC. If anyone knows how to do that so it displays on my screen, I'd appreciate the instructions! :)

I'm sorry if it came across like that. I'm just referring to Google's policies. I actually asked Google if I could download album art or not and they wouldn't answer, but just referred me to the policy site and said that I cannot conclude anything from what other apps do. The big problem here is that I do not want to 'experiment' with finding or crossing the edges of legality, because I already experienced what Google does with apps that violate these terms. UAPP was expelled from the play store with no chance of publishing it again because it had a link to the free trial version in its description. It was only because I knew someone at Google that they reverted this decision. For someone who depends on his income solely from selling apps, you cannot imagine how stressful this period was. So I'd like to stay clear of anything coming close to violating the terms, no matter what other apps do.

Completely understandable in that case, under those specifics.

Is this why the free trial version of UAPP is gone from the Play Store?

It was never available from the Play Store, only as a link in the description of the app. We chose not to put the trial officially in the Play Store because it would get a lot of bad ratings by people who do not understand the purpose of the app.

Hey all, one question on my experience with UAPP. I'm using an LG V30, is it part of the software design where the volume levels are lower when in Hi-res direct mode, as opposed to using the Original Android driver?

I've tested different setups with different headphones and get the same result with all of them. So I just wanted to check if this is normal or it there's a setting I have wrong in the app?

Thanks!

Pardon my ignorance, but I can't find in the new version an option to prevent UAPP from drawing over my lock screen. I think it was there before, because I always turn such a feature off in music players. Have I overlooked it?

No, there was never a switch to turn it off. May come in future though.

Do you have MQA enabled and if so, does it change anything? Please select the same track again after switching the MQA flag.

I had all flags disabled. I cycled MQA and Direct PCM on and off and did some more testing. It looks like it was actually the Bitperfect option causing the lower volume levels, not the Hires vs Android direct option idk why I thought it was that option. I just left all the flags unchecked now is that the correct default option?

I'm assuming the lower volume on the Bitperfect option is the normal case since the software volume levels are bypassed? Just FYI I'm connecting HD6XX's directly to the phone in High Impedance Mode.

I actually have a question regarding the in-app software volume. If I turn the Bitperfect option off to use the EQ, should this volume always be set at max to get the most bits out of the source? And then control the volume to suit using the phones main volume buttons? Or does the in-app software volume essentially have the same effect as the main phone buttons?

Thanks for the response.

Please note that the current version has a bug regarding the display and use of bit-perfectness, especially in combination with USB DACs: the bit-perfect options for HiRes Audio and USB audio interfere with each other. Without a USB DAC or changing the USB audio options, this wouldn't have effect on you though.

If you applied EQ which raises the volume, then turning off bit-perfect will of course result in lower volume

If you use the HiRes driver, it's best not to use the software volume at all and just use the phone's volume. The gain slider in the EQ is there to compensate for the possible raise in volume. It should definitely not be set all the way to the right. If you use the EQ, watch the red led below the Gain slider: if it turns red, make sure to reduce the gain.
