The Tidal MQA discussion does not belong here. There is a separate thread for it.
Please.
Thank you.

YesAre you sure ?
Any examples ?
I have messed around a fair bit trying to figure out what files are what and I have not come across that situation.
I am not saying it doesn't exist but maybe it is a few outlier cases that are a result of their swapping over process being less than well implemented.
It's interesting how people argue about the bitrate. But if you cannot determine this quality by ear, then why are you interested in what quality of the stream you are provided with? placebo?![]()
I see that as MQA 44.1kHz. I have no way to tell what bit depth it is. Could it be 24 bit or can you see it is 16 ?
I know Qobuz call 24/44.1 Hi Res.
The original FLAC seems 16 bit (at least in ROON)
and also in UAPP

I forgot about UAPP even though we are talking about Tidal and MQA in the UAPP forum !!Apparently we should not be doing that !!
Interesting, do Tidal consider anything MQA to be MAX quality ?
Yes but in the meantime, Tidal should not be classifying these MQA 16/44 files as HiRes.Yes, I apologize for fueling this OT discussion, but in reality this matter also concerns UAPP (as well as all the other alternative players),
in relation to its interfacing with TIDAL.
From what I understand updated API specifications need to be released to allow UAPP to interface with the new Hi-RES formats.

Mostly the pretty lights I suspect. All joking aside, I'd be willing to bet barely anyone, if anyone, would be able to tell in a blind A/B. But that doesn't just apply to bitrate, it applies to pretty much everything "audiophile". In fairness, it is preferable to have the best quality where possible just for the sake of it as long as it isn't a big hassle to get. It's interesting how people argue about the bitrate. I suspect Android 7.1 isn't helping your cause.Hi,
As the proud owner of UAPP I love to use it and would like to use it in a more consistent way.
But it is not really possible.
Because after a while music stops being playend and I get a message "Network Connection Lost".
I am using the UAPP latest version.
It runs on a Shanling M8 DAP.
It retrieves music from an Emby server from Wi-Fi network.
The Shanling player runs Android 7.1 version.
I have set UAPP to "not optimized" in Battery settings.
That "Network connection loss" does not happen with a "competitor" software... that is not as easy to use.
So if you got a hint about what is going on I'm a taker...
