Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread

After a few failed attempts with different tools it looks like I'm finally going to pursue a re-shell! I've wanted to pretty much since I've had these guys so it's about time. Found a place nearby that does ear impressions for $75/$55 CAD/USD so I'm going take advantage of that.

I actually have an unopened backup set of UE10s, but I'm hesitating on breaking into them... I don't really need to, but I lack a decent portable sound option now.

Get radians diy self impression kit for $10 from amazon, cvs etc, spend 10-15 mins to take your ear impressions urself and when ur done, have them shipped to the re-sheller that you wish, simple as that......you make use of that remaining 80-85% of that cost to re-shell+s/h!

Its not simple as that. You can loose your hearing forever if you dont use the blocks correctly and material contacts ear drums. Ear impressions have to be done by specialized people.

Huh, I thought I had a good deal there. I had two other places quote me $100+ USD.

I'll have to do some more research and look into diy as well.

yeah there are useful videos out there on youtube......bite block and 2nd bend is v.imp. But if you are not confident enough and not sure of what you doin I suggest you better safe with specialist, imo.

Keep us updated with your re-shelling!

Speaking of radians and UE triple fi, I recently did this to mine. Sounds good and the fit is fantastic.[/IMG]

So, after another 4 years, my cable finally broke again. This time I'd like to buy something a little more solid than the original UE TF10 vi cable. I'd like to have something that also has one button for pause/play. I can't find anything though. I'm looking for a solution/recommendation. Maybe I can go with some custom cable like Dark Lord's and add an extension of sorts that gives me a button/volume control? Any of you guys have a suggestion?

Edit: Looking at Null Audio's website right now and it seems like it may fit the bill? When you add the "dual audio" mod, does it give you a control button as well? Any big difference in quality between this and the cheaper 'Arete' cable? https://www.null-audio.com/products/lune-series-mkiii-premium-upgrade-cable-for-earphones?variant=381387146

Edit 2: Found my answers. Now it's about deciding between Arete and Lune...! Tough choice.

hey, i'm on the same boat. let me know what you decide to do and why...  i just found my TF10s from storage and debating whether or not I should sell them or just use a new cable on them (but from where? and which one?).

I ended up going with the Arete after seeing averagejoe's review comparing both; he said he preferred them sonically, and put an emphasis on better bass. But the reviews on the main site are definitely in favor of the Lune for durability, so it was close. Price was the defining factor. I chose Arete because it was cheaper.

So I've had my Triplefi's forever and still love em, but I'm thinking of turning them into CIEM's. Can anyone recommend a re-sheller?

Also, can anyone recommend a good budget replacement cable? I think some have mentioned the Dark Lord, are both of these the same and is it still a good recommendation?

I did some research a while back about getting my replacement cables and from what I've found:

1. The Dark Lord cables that received high praise from these forums don't seem to be produced anymore by the original company/person. The "Dark Lord" cables that you see know are imitations, including the one from Amazon. I'm not sure whether the fake Dark Lord cables are any good, but I decided to stay away from them.

2. I actually ordered some replacement cables from Null Audio. Since it's custom, it'll take some time to get here (they're from Singapore. From the reviews I've read, they seem to be worth it.

Should anybody in France or western EU want to sell his/her TF10, I'd be more than interested.

It's one of the only TOTL IEM of the 2000s that I didn't get to try, and I want to cross it off my list before it becomes too rare to find.

Well I already ordered the Dark Lords from Amazon, and I'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully they will be ok, if not the Null cables look like a good deal. Thanks.

As to re-shelling, I may try inearz or Perfect Seal, which has been mentioned as doing a good job. It was also recommended to ask for different connectors, ie: 2 pin 0.78mm or mmcx instead of the 0.75mm 2pin from UE as it is easier to find replacement cables.

I ordered a set of these back in October for my Triples though it was from Amazon (3rd party seller obviously) but looks like the price has tripled on Amazon for them now. I was really dubious and figured I'd just give it a shot for that little money but I was pleasantly surprised. I really like them. The rubberized covering is really tactile and not microphonic AT ALL. They don't form around the top of the ear but they're grippy and substantial enough that they stay in place really well anyhow - not quite as snug but good enough that it's never bothered me while walking around etc. They're also *really* easy to coil/store/uncoil. Worth a shot in my opinion - and if others fail (as they will) you've a backup even if you don't like them a whole lot. I really did, and still haven't picked up a "better" cable.

Gents: If you are using fiio rc-ue1 cable with your tf10 and have the Vyrus too, you can use the fiio cable to go with your vyrus......it holds good with trinity's line of similar 2 pin compatible ones.

those tf10 owners who are still expecting the delivery of trinity monitors cld try their TF0 cable when you get them.the stock logitech pins too mate w/ trinity sockets.
