out of curiosity why did you return the w40's?

They were just not the sound signature I was looking for.  I guess they were too warm for me.  I was actually bummed because they fit better than any other IEM I have tried and were soooooo comfortable.    If they were $200 I might have kept them but at $499 I was very disappointed.

Any one here try or own the Fidue A83?  I'm still in the hunt for my X-mas IEMS after returning the W40s and these look very interesting.

Its a good sounding iEM but research more for fit issues, its sound signature before you pull the trigger......chk its respective thread as well, while you wait for response here,I wld say......imo.

how hard is it to convert to mmcx? Is this your first pair from 2 pins to mmcx ever? Thats a lot of patience and pro.....excellent job and like to see once everything complete......

Very hard :D
Must patient, handy and skilled in molding epoxy for the mounting of mmcx connectors.
Its not 1st time I work with mmcx detach mod, in past I mod IM50, converter 2 pin to mmcx and hippo pro one detach mod.
Finally finishing, add some epoxy to fill the gap.
Here the pict, ready for painting time.

I own the A83, what would you like to know?

Btw, it's nice seeing the TF10 thread still active. Four times I've owned/sold them, the last saying I'd never sell, but things change.

Ha, you have me beat!  I only sold them twice!

In a nutshell, I'm looking for a IEM with the noise isolation and form factor of a BA but with the sound attributes of a dynamic.  I was a big fan of the IE8 for a long time but my subway commutes forced me to go with a BA headphone.  I also liked the Sony MDR-EX600/7550/1000 but hated the form factor.  Probably the only headphone worse than a TF10 as far as being Frankenstein bolts.

Actually I would be happy with a TF10 in a Westone W series form factor.  I thought the UE900 or W40 was going to be that but I preferred the TF10.   Maybe I should just get them re-shelled into customs and stop trying to find something new.

I understand, honestly I preffered TF10 over UE900 myself, not much a fan of those, but the isolation was great, they looked cool, especially on all those hi-res marketing photos, but the sound.. What happened, they let Jerry down.

Unfortunately, A83 is not your man due to the low isolation, think about EX600 / EX1000 levels. Due to the shallow insertion and limited reach of the nozzle they're simply not going to block much noise. The sound however is probably where you want to be. Like a TF10 on anabolic steroids minus some bass impact (better balanced bass). It's one of my best IEM right now.

Maybe you want to check out the Vsonic VSD5 (I think that's the name) it has a similar housing to Westone / Shure and was referenced off EX1000. It is dynamic based though.

Just some food for thought.

Haha, truthfully I think I reached a point overtime where TF10 weren't satisfying me anymore (as much that bums out owners and the thread). But! It was those moments I first heard TF10 that kept drawing me back.

They were the first balanced armature I heard, let alone one with 3 armatures. I remember waiting for them being very excited, and they sure did deliver. If only I'd backed away from Head-Fi at that moment I would have been completely satisfied.
