I'd be ridiculously loaded enough to buy that used Rolex Submariner I've always dreamed of having since I was 15 if I could figure out how to build a mic cable. I get like 5 requests a week. They get pretty ridiculous, someone once offered me a serious amount of cash yet I have no idea where to even begin to build one mang!

So alas, I eat Panda Express for dinner and cry myself to sleep =(

I wouldn't think it'd be terribly difficult.  I'd first try and source a Mic (or pull one apart from an already built - inexpensive headset - for testing).  Then get a nice 1/8" TRRS plug.  I'm not sure how'd you do with with typical braided cables... but... hmmm, you know what... I think I'm going to build one now (for testing)... interesting concept!  I want one that has iPhone controls... maybe get one from Deal Extreme... pull it apart... get all the cables and connections sorted.  Then keep the Mic lines separated from the actual headphone cables... only connect them at the TRRS plug instead of trying to splice into the headphone wire itself.  Should also eliminate chance of making headphone sound worse because of Mic.  Sorry, now I'm rambling as different thoughts are flowing in and out....

I think it should be simple to add mic controls. Just think of it as a hose, you kink it at a point and the water stops coming out. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

This be a weird problem but uh...using the default tips, when I insert them they produce alot of pressure/suction on my ear. After they are in, because they seal so well, my heartbeat is transmitted to my ear which is pretty annoying. Only happens to the default tips and not complys.

They sound better with the complys than the defaults and I couldn't get Sony Hybrids to fit (plus their opening seems small). Just me or?

I have not experienced the suction or heartbeat effect but for once i am prefer the comply tips on them than silicone, sound quality wise.

Adding wires with controls to TF10 is not good idea,
sooner or later you will start using Amp and these wires will be of no use

I burn my ear hair out regularly (major hairy lug problem

) and so I also get a very good seal (Too good?) and know exactly what you mean with the pressure/suction with silicon tips.. I have to pull them out very slowly or it feels like my eardrum will burst!  My DIY foam tips (like complys) solve this problem.

Sorry to add to you misery but, got this photo through from Frank at Toxic Cables yesterday:

This is the finished prototype IEM cable with touch talk mic. This will be released at the same time as the other upcoming IEM cables and willo have clear over moulded connectors, just like the other ones. Loving the choker!

I am selling my TripleFi10s if anyone is interested.  Barely used (less than 10 hours) with 2 cables (regular and mic).  I cannot get a good fit and do not wanted to go custom.  Anyone interested, PM me.

Sorry to hear that. The fit can be very temperamental, it was one thing I worried about on purchasing mine.

I was watching game of thrones this evening with my TF10. It almost sounds like you're in the room with the actors. Very very cool fun.
