Agree, if you put the music first and accept good music doesnt have to be perfect, your enjoyment will last.

Not true. I upgrade track cars every few years and I always say that this is the last track car I'm going to buy. But maybe this will be my last track car as I may upgrade houses one last time and that will really do me in.

probably not at US MSRP. At AJ the price now is around $1099 which i feel is a better reflection of its performance. And no, an ex1000 it is not. EX1K has a hotter treble with more impactful bass and a bigger soundstage. However the M9 treble is much more controlled and the m9 has more accurate instrument placement.

Overall it seems quite hyped

If anything out there is hyped, it is IEM's from Campfire Audio!

Sony could have sold the EX1000 for a +$1000 but it was at a time portable audio wasn’t a major thing. A major miss for Sony?
Luckily it came with detachable cable so one could upgrade it with a balanced cable.
For what it’s worth considering the price there will never be another EX1000.
Since Sony came out with an awesome sounding EX1000, I would only get the Z1R if I justified its price to performance ratio.
I have the M9 for now and can say that it’s not worth comparing to EX1000.
