I like Mason FS better for Mids than Mentor.
I’ve only demo’d Mason FuSang briefly and I enjoyed its mids very much. The problem I had was the bass and treble.

There’s been quite a few midrange specialists that I’ve owned or heard in the past that are on par or even exceed Mentors mids such as Phonix/Erlkonig/Elysium and even the Rhapsodio Supreme Mk2, but all of them suffered in either the bass or treble or both. Mentor to my ears has the least sacrifices across the FR, so that’s why it would be my choice. Ymmv :)

Luckily I am not too fussed about bass so no sacrifices for me :joy:
Now I probably just need the Annihilator to complete my collection.

Mids: Phonix
Treble: Annihilator
Bass: XE6
All rounder: Blanc lol

Gaea's Elysian treble is really impressive. I'd never imagine something could be so well extended without any hint of harshness or sibilance. Only thing is that it makes female vocals 10 years younger....I suppose that isn't too much of a problem for Jpop:joy:

Yeah Anni is awesome. It does everything well, is super technical and i find it coloured enough to be exciting and fun most of the time. If it were my only iem, I’d probably miss having a more textured bass response and a bit of warmth in the mids though.
Mentor or Annihilator
Very difficult to choose if it was just to have an IEM just between these two, who must be those who today do everything or (almost everything) excellent

Phonix for sure would be my next choice after Mentor. Loved that IEM. It was just a touch shy in the sub bass for me but other than that, I really enjoyed its sound. The problem I had was the sensitivity. It hisses like an Andromeda which triggers my OCD big time 😂

Long time lurker, first time poster…

It’s not in the same tax bracket as some of the IEMs you fellas rave about (I spend 90%+ of my time and $ on my “desktop” rig) but I finally found an IEM I am completely happy with.

Audeze Euclid arrived yesterday, pairs nicely with my A&K SE180 (as a Roon endpoint). I’m blown away by the comfort, fit and overall SQ. Highly resolving and a fun listen.

Previous IEMs were Blessing 2 then most recently UM MEXT. Euclid blows them both out of the water.

64 audio has the best treble with their tia drivers. There is a sweetness to it that lends to forever listening sessions without any hint of fatigue yet still captures all the highs as it should and all the new-fangled drivers cant compete with it to this day.
Glad to hear you like the 64 Audio treble. They certainly have extended treble. But for me, VE and Oriolus to name two brands have a superior treble tone to go along with their detailed presentation.

Yeah it's definitely why I've amassed quite a large collection of tips, pretty much buying any new release the minute I'd hear about them. The combination of the massive difference for fit and comfort, along with the huge difference in sound - much more so than cables in my experience.

Some of my favourite tips over the last couple of years... in no particular order:
  1. SpinFit W1
  2. Acoustune AET07
  3. Spiral Dot++
  4. Symbio W / F
  5. Tanchjim T300 (wide bore)
  6. Azla Short / Standard (in both regular or light variants)
as usual, I need to spread the word on Acoustune AEX70, best tips for comfort bar none

Talking about the mids, I have to say that despite dabbling in the recent heavy hitters (Traillii, Phonix, Jewel and the FuSang), I am still completely wowed by the Elysium. Especially once paired with a cable like Ode to Laura! Really solves the anemic bass issue. Currently vibing in excitement to see what our famed doctorjuggles can come up with his flagship copper cable as well.
