I did the @1clearhead's PRO80's mod and it did increase the sub-bass rumble. It also widened the sound stage, probably by elevating higher treble region of the sound spectrum, on expense of making the PRO80s a bit more sibilant.

I didn't notice any more sibilance when I did mine. What pads are you using?

Does the new pro80 with the straight cable sounds any different from the old ones?
Are there any other differences?

And by the way, if the ISK hp-2011 are so good, why there is 0 information about them out there?

In China ISK is very popular, while in the US and other countries Takstar would be the more popular brand. There's a lot of reviews in China for ISK, most of them very positive, but only in China. Takstar and ISK are two (2) brothers that run the company. Takstar started first, back at around 1995, while the other brother later joined in calling his joint company ISK.

Both brothers have different taste in sound signatures and styles, that's why you got the often similar looks of both companies. But, for most Chinese in China they prefer the sound signature of ISK, which several months ago I eventually started finding this out through my Chinese friends.

@1clearhead thanks for the detailed reply :)

I'll share my concerns:
I can get the pro80 with the original box for 60$ (52$ w/o box).
I might be able to get the hp-2011 for 39$ which is quite cheaper.

The thing is that the pro80 seems like a "safe bet", this is because many people here have them and reviewed them.
So I can rest assured they are as good as they said to be and are built well.
On the other hand I can't get a lot of information about the hp-2011 besides your posts.

The second thing is that the pro80 kinda looks a little bit better.

How does the pro80 and the hp-2011 compares in term of build quality?
From the pictures it seems that:
1) The hp-2011 headband is less comfortable (material wise)
2) The cable seems to be thinner than the one on the takstar pro80
3) Are the pads on the hp-2011 really larger (opening) than the takstar ones? How they feel in general?
4) Does the hp-2011 have straight cable?

I bought Takstar 2050 on the recommendations of forum members. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Now thinking of upgrading but I would restrict myself to Takstar and similar chinese brands.

Kindly suggest open or closed models.

I have to admit, I do like the way the Pro 80's look when compared to the ISK and all the other ones I've seen, by far. And, they do have a great package going, especially the Pro 80's. Build quality are similar, but the Pro 80's are a little heavier due to the fact that they carry 53mm drivers, while the HP2011 carries 50mm ones.

.....the wires are both good and straight type on the Pro 80's and the HP2011, though the HP2011 are just a tad bit thinner, but still good. Pads on both are good, though the HP2011's, as you said, are a little bigger. But, honestly I'm in another level with the sound signatures of the HP2011. They are just that sweet!

So, finally today I was able to stop by a Takstar headphone shop and buy the ISK HD9999. I've been testing them and burning them in during the day and so far they exceeded all my expectations and are worth every penny and very thrilled to have bought them.
.....I will be posting some picks several days from now.

That depends what you use them for. For example, if you want to upgrade with a closed type headphone and get total privacy from any noise, or interuptions and also want to use them for monitoring purposes? Go for either the ISK HP2011, or the their flagship model ISK HD9999, which is a total package like the Pro 80's.

.....if you want to still be connected to your environment and still want an upgrade to better sounding headphones? Try the open type ISK HF2010. I have both the Takstar HI2050 and the ISK HF2010 and definitely the HF2010 are a nice upgrade in sound.

Did you see the iSK HP980 there? It looks identical to the HD9999, without the firmer ear pads and the carrying case. Also there is this iSK mdh9000 that looks like ATH M50. If you stumble upon them, please do try them and post your impressions here. Thanks!

I was able to check-out the HP980 a few days ago. They were just okay for me, nothing out of the ordinary. "Oops! It wasn't the HP980 I checked-out at the time, it was the HP960 that weren't as good as the Pro 80's." But, ironically I was researching the MDH9000 online since yesterday and they do look interesting to me. Even the housing is really well made.

I'll check and see if the Takstar headphone shop carries the MDH9000 during lunch tomorrow.

......There's around 8 Takstar headphone shops where I work at, so there's got to be one that carries them. I hope!

I noticed the HAS-30 has a frequency response of 15hz - 26 khz, while the MDH9000 has a better frequency response of 10hz - 30 khz.

I might still want to check-out the MDH9000 after all.

Those specs don't mean squat unless you actually see the graph. All it states is that the headphone can drive those frequencies but doesn't tell you at what dB.
