Man the takstars improve in comfort so much with the HM5 pads (and they are pretty comfortable to begin with)

Bass and lower mids to seem to be a little recessed now but not significantly (it still is a lot more present than the Hi2050). Soundstage seems a little bigger now though, which is nice.

Hi 2050, pro 80, hd6000,in your opinions, for metal music, the likes of opeth, dream theater, symphony x, and many other prog bands, which one would be best? Or maybe an entirely different set of headphones from another takstar like manufacturer (i own the superlux hd669 and hd300.) amp is a fiio e10k.
Thanks a bunch.

I think Pro 80s are a safe way to go. You can also buy HM5 Pads.

Best Luck!

I got my takstar pro80 today.

They are very good, don't get me wrong, but are any of you guys getting a fairly large amount of resonance that is impacting the mid bass-lower midrage?

Does burn in help with this?

I've never had any resonance. It's possible that it is a faulty unit. Maybe the driver isn't attached probably or some debri inside the cup...

Not a rattle or buzz, but more like a mid bass bloat. It's really weighted with male vocals and stuff around the lower midrange. Maybe it's just because it's a new pair.

Pro80s broke in for the better. Mid bass presence has settles. They are a very nice set of closed headphones.

They are a more affordable alternative to the M50. Less sub bass in exchange for more midrange presence.

Well worth $150, let alone the $65 I paid.

Cheers

The fun begins when you decide to mod them with a laundry list of mods.
