Thank you all you guys for the feedback and answers. It's really appreciated. I'll have to have a think on all the info here. My gut is telling me MH463 for some reason. Need to ruminate before giving a better response.

I tried Taoboa agent though - says its out of stock? Never used the service before.

Done some burn in, done some more listening, and I'm not quite sure about the HI 2050 yet. I love that it's much lighter than the MH463s. I like that it gets some of the openness of the 463s. There seems to be something... muting the clarity. At times clarity is fine, but at others it feels like it's at 90%, just enough to notice and to keep some parts of detail-oriented songs from shining as they should. I'll have to wear them more or tuck a towel between the phones while I'm at work to get them to stretch a bit, because I can't wear them for more than a couple hours at a time (referencing my earlier comment about pressure on the jaw).
 
Some observations and guesses:
 

1. The padding against the inside of the cup is thick and cushy. I'm pretty positive this influences sound, but I'm not sure to what degree as I haven't tried messing with it yet. As thick as it feels, I'm very surprised the bass is so laid back in the HI 2050s.
2. These are very quiet headphones; they do not creak or make noises while wearing or handling.
3. I almost love the highs. They seem to run out of air on the big high notes though; equalizing black magic may be in order, but I definitely don't have the time to dedicate to making my own EQ settings.
4. I'm growing more convinced that opening up the holes more on the back of the cups, and/or replacing the thick fabric covering the inside surface of the cups, will result in better "openness".
5. In my opinion, for sonic quality alone the MH463 still has the 2050s beat.
6. I would love to see these and the MH463s recabled and compared side-by-side with the stock headphones.

I noticed that you ripped the badge off too.

taking the pads off and stack books on top to break it in some as well helps take the pressure off as well.

Glad you liked the wire, and the sound is fantastic.  As you know I have that same wire on my HPT990, using Shure 940 velour pads, and a little EQ on the low end.  These are equal to my HD600 and HD580, but more clarity and better bass with this wire.  The USPS was a little slow, glad you got the wire though.
 
I am using cryoed pure copper type 2 litz on my Pro 80, and they sound like open back phones, sound quality is better than the HPT990/2050, using Shure 940 velour on them as well, with a little EQ on the low end.  The bass on these is excellent, quantity of the S500 but much better quality and texturing....really a fantastic sounding headphone that is getting most of my listening time.  I have never heard better sub bass on a headphone, deep, tight and clean.  Both of these headphones really scale up with my tube amplifier.  The cryoed pure copper type 2 litz is 26 gauge and easy to work with, newly available on plussound.com!  The best copper wire available for DIY!

i had about 6 inches of copper wire left and made an amp cable out of it thank you!!! i want to re wire my life with this stuff

ya i think ripping the badge off increases the width of the sound stage also! it can leave little holes if your not carefull! considering that the badge covers about 15% of the opening on the grill

That sounds like a stupid thing to do, you will get hard and flat pads and loose all kind of comfort, you will also risk getting the pads so thin that your ears will touch the drivers, which can be quite painfull to use.
It is much easier to grab the headband and just bend it a bit in the "wrong" direction..

Just bought the takstar hd 2000 and I'm very pleased by its sound quality : very detailed for the price, sound open, rather neutral and supreme comfort
The sound is a little dark but way less than HI 2050 and "dark lord" pro 80
There's almost no pressure while wearing them ( I have a large head) ans i found the bass to be a little light so i bend the headband : the sound is fuller with better bass impact but the soundstage is a little worse.
Build quality is just ok, far frome the solid construction of the pro 80/ HI 2050, it's very plasticky
 
Isolation is poor so don't expect to use it on the move
 
Overall it's a very good pair of headphone considering the price tag( 30€ /40$ )
 
This another good headphone from takstar makes me want to buy the entire line-up

Just received the Takstar HD6000 and out of the box, I am already impressed. For me, they are worthy to be Takstar's flagship. They are better than Pro80 in all departments. The first thing I noticed is the amount and quality of bass they can give. Very snappy, tight, articulate and goes realy deep. I am sure they will be loved by bass fanatics. Mids are sweet and intimate, but not too forward. The highs are also there smooth and no trace of sibilance. I really love the sound signature that is why I ordered another pair for future modifications. These are my impressions and please take them with a pinch of salt.

yes , they are more forward sounding to my ears and by the way the build quality is topnotch but the sad part is they are not for guys with big skull.

well, if HD2000 and Pro80 can fit your head, I dont think you will have a problem with HD6000.
