That's good to hear. I see you have the Little Dot MK III. I am wondering if that works well for all those cans.

Little dot Mk III works well with the Senn 580's. If my memory serves me right, most of the little dot line up was designed around the 580/600/650 phones. Overall very happy with the combo, just play around with tube rolling; my only complaint was that the stock driver tubes were very microphonic.

Those earpads look the wrong color...

maybe you should change the ear pads as they will effect the sound field to some extent

i think yours is a very old edition of HD580, if you can confirm that the filter inside the unit is paper in texture.

yes I have been looking for pads, I realize they are quite old and I am losing some sound quality and power because of them but can only seem to find some for around 40 GBP! Are the earpads compatible with HD 600 or any others?

And the filters inside were foam, but i removed them as it made the sound seem a bit more detailed.

I think I have the same edition. Are there any sonic differences among the different versions?

Thanks. I don't think Sennheiser USA ship to the UK.....and the cheapest I can find them here is about 40 quid shipped :/

Oh well, my birthday is coming up on the 23rd...maybe I can ask for some new pads

i love mine... the earpads are a tad worn and the headband pad is completely compressed but they are comfortable and have pretty much cured me of upgraditis for my home setup (portable is another story) i may do the 650 cable but that's cheap...

I have coming in a gently used but properly burned in set of HD 580's with HD600 grills and HD650 cable...and a brand new Little Dot MKIII - really looking forward to them (although I still need to upgrade my PC soundcard being used as source). So what do the 600 grills and 650 cable do for the HD 580?

I don't have a 580. I have a 600 with a 650 cable for it. I constantly switch between the two, as the 650 cable seems to add bass, but darkens the overall sound. There seems to be more detail in the lower area with the 650 cable, and is better for things like watching movies or playing games with a lot of explosions. On the other hand, I prefer the 600 for listening to most music, since it seems to have more mid to high detail.

Well, now that I replaced the cable again, I think that the HD650 cable is better when paired with the fairly bright Emu0404. The HD650 cable adds a good deal of 'weight' as compared to the stock HD600 cable. It makes things like saxophones or violins have more 'soul' to them.

If... they're the "new" version... those mods make them sound identical to the "new" version of the HD600s... and... they may even sound identical to the "new" version of the HD650s - mine do! Identical!

"And... they are... spectacular!"
